Could this be the Messiah?

The Temple crowd was quite stirred...

Welcome back family of God!

It has been a week hiatus since the last posting, but we still have regular video updates on our YouTube channel. It is good to be here to share once again with everyone the good news that the Lord has given us of Salvation through Christ alone, by faith alone amen? Let's take a moment to give God thanks for the mighty deeds He has done, not just for us but for everyone He has saved, His Justice, Mercy, Love and that He is the Truth. He alone is Holy and there is no other! What a mighty God we serve indeed! It's always good for us to do as what was done for the people of Israel through the years, be reminded of what the Lord has done for us...lest we become prideful and forget the Lord our God. He is worthy of Love the most...yet receives it from mankind the least and that is heartbreaking...

That last point is segue into the video from last Saturday night where Pastor Scott humbly takes us through John 7:25-36 (with a brief into 37-39), look very close at the division of the crowd in the Temple. On the one side we have the Pharisees who were constantly looking for a way to arrest and kill Jesus, the other side we have people who are genuinely amazed at the Lord's teaching, for no man has ever spoken as Him before, yet across the middle nobody really seemed to hit the mark with who He really was. We even see a touch of irony in the statement of one of the men in the crowd in verse 31 as he speaks " Yet many of the people believed in him. They said, “When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?”". Dear friends, we sadly too often face this very same reality...people simply do not know Him, nor He they.

This is why we are called to proclaim the Gospel to the nations! As the love of God so fills us, it ought to spur us on to good works, that we should desire to see our neighbor saved. Let's join together, and serve the Lord in doing what He commands of us. His commands are good, and are life to all who obey them. Seek the Lord while He may be found, and you are never alone in this! The blood of Christ is more powerful than any sin that you may have committed, and no sin you commit can undue the cleansing power of it. Let's strive together to walk the narrow way, few there be that find it.

We encourage you to watch the sermon from last Saturday night and share it with friends, family, neighbors and even your enemies, the Gospel is for all to hear. As Pastor Scott reminded us in the sermon tonight, if the Lord has given us ears to hear, we will understand who Jesus is...

Eat of His Flesh and Drink of His Blood

His words are Spirit and Life!

Welcome back brothers and sisters!

Here we are once again, and always by the grace of the Lord our God. Before we go over a few things from our last gathering, let us take a moment to give God our Father thanks, through the Lord Jesus Christ, for His great longsuffering towards each of us. His love is beyond what we can fully grasp it's so magnificent, and He has chosen to show it to us...Glorious is He! Let us also remember that our time in prayer should also be one of reverence and solemnity. Remember Isaiah as he found himself in the before the Lord in Isaiah chapter 6 ? His glory is so amazing and Holy, that we should always remember to treat being in His presence with the utmost reverence.

Saturday night was one to rejoice in, as we got to share in several testimonies in how Christ is working in each of our lives. We were witness to see how the Lord has set a new baby in the direction of a life lived in a faithful home, a believer who found his way back into the household of God to be able to worship with the brothers and sisters and a brother that greatly encouraged all of us that no matter how long we have been believers, all of us face the same temptations and still sin sometimes. However, when we do sin, we have an advocate with the Father who always lives to intercede on our behalf, so always humble yourself and go to the Lord seeking forgiveness and confessing your sins. God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness! (1 John 1:9)

Pastor Scott also continued in his series in the Gospel of John, chapter 6. He touched back a few verses from 6:41 and we went on through verse 66 this week. (John 6:41-66) Here is where we see one of the most misunderstood sections of scripture, and as Pastor Scott pointed out, as unbelievers we often might have thought when Jesus said to eat of His flesh and drink of His blood....He was talking about cannibalism! Thankfully that isn't the case, and the Lord even points out later in the chapter, verse 63, what His words mean! This is just to name the biggest thing to catch our attention however, as always a simple blog post can't do just to the Pastor's sermon. So....we very much encourage you to watch this week's video, check what's being taught to scripture for yourself...always a must. Then, please share and invite others to come and hear the Gospel, come and know Christ Jesus, come and worship God together. The most important thing we can do is tell the truth to someone, the Gospel is always going to be offensive to those who are perishing, all the more reason we should desire to see them saved! It's the Lord who does the saving, not us, so let's trust Him and preach the Gospel...in season and out, amen?

The Bread of Life

Jesus, the True Manna from Heaven...

Welcome back brothers and sisters!

Before we began, let us start with giving thanks to the Lord our God in the name of Jesus Christ. The Lord showed us so much love that He would leave His place in Heaven to come and live the perfect life we failed to do, be tried and tempted in every way and remain without sin, willingly lay down His life for His people for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus obeyed His Father in Heaven, our Father also, perfectly and fulfilled the whole law...praise be to Him! Amen?...Amen!

God is good dear friends, every day His mercies are new and every day is another day we have to live for Him now as we wait til the time comes we are with Him for all eternity. Our past worship gathering on Saturday was wonderful as usual, being able to share in the Gospel with fellow believers is always a gift. We are thankful to have Pastor Scott to have continued in the series he has been doing in the Gospel of John, our verses for the night were from 6:22-51 . We covered a good amount of verses for the evening, but all very important to the topic at hand...the bread of life! Pastor Scott takes us through the Lord's explanation of how He is the bread of life...the true manna from heaven, and how this is the bread we are to eat of. This is the bread that feeds and nourishes our very soul. This topic is one of the first times we see the church shrink, in a way, many people who were following Christ found all of this too hard to take in and left Him! The road is narrow dear family, but one that we must endeavor to stay on faithfully, for the Lord Himself will bring us through. We very much urge you to watch the video from this past Saturday and as always, share with others! Not one of us know who will be saved or when, but that doesn't change our mandate to preach the Gospel, in and out of season! God's love for us, drive us in our love for Him and our neighbor, that we should desire to see someone saved and not perish. We must be in the Word daily, it is very important to be continually in the Word spending time with God, for from there we get the very direction for our life dear friends. We are also all together in Christ and never a lone Christian, don't hesitate to contact us for anything we can help with in your faithful walk in Christ!

Out of the Water, into the Boat

Always reach for Christ!

Welcome back brothers and sisters!

Before we get started, let's take a moment and give thanks to God. Give thanks that He is all that we need, His grace is sufficient, He is our provider, our savior and Lord. He never changes, He is light...as we walk in this very dark world, we can always look to Christ that our lives would be lit up with the Truth. He gave us everything and is worthy of all of our love, worship, praise, respect, awe, admiration and obedience. There is none greater than the Lord.

Another week has come and gone, which means we are that much closer to the day the Lord returns or calls us home. As we live in a sinful and broken world, it's all to common to think the trouble or hardship we are going through isn't understood by anyone else...it may feel as if our world is sinking beneath our feet and the waters are enveloping us. Even here we can call out to the Lord, even here, He is to pull us up, even here...He will usher us into the boat. The apostle Peter learned this quite literally in our passage for the night, in John 6:14-21 . Our beloved Pastor Scott takes us faithfully into the scriptures to exposit the meaning of Christ sending His disciples out upon the lake alone, calling Peter out on the water, and saving Him as he sank! There is a great deal indeed to learn and as always we truly encourage you to watch the sermon for this week and share it with everyone you can. We don't know when the Lord will return, but let's pray He finds us doing what He has called us to do when He does, amen?

Friends, everyone needs to hear the Gospel, both the saved and unsaved...it's the very anchor we have in this world to keep us from drifting into darkness. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father, but through Him. That is very good news, we can come to Him by faith alone. He grants us repentance to turn from our sins and follow after Him...let's share that today amen?

From A Few Fish...

Plus a couple loaves of barley bread...

Welcome back family!

Well what a weekend it was, 4th of July weekend...independence! Let's take a moment to give thanks to the Lord our God, that true independence comes from Him. True freedom comes thru the knowledge of Jesus Christ, knowing Him as our Lord and Savior! He freed us from slavery to sin, the deadliest of things... He rescued us from the wrath of God, the right and just punishment due to all of us sinners for offending the infinitely Holy God. All of this He did because He is love, He is our Creator...and even while we were still sinners, He died for us. Then just as was prophesied, just as was promised, God showed everyone that the finished works of Christ were indeed done on the Cross, when He raised Him from the dead! Brothers and sisters, this is the independence we need to be reminded of, be thankful for and it's because of this that we will continue to have men and women lay down their lives for their country, their families, their neighbors, their Lord (Jesus) and including in some cases their enemies. Many men and women in the line of service have laid down their lives to protect the very God given freedoms we have in this country, even while those who enjoy those freedoms use them to hate those who ensure they have them. So let's always remember the Lord our God, always...

This weekend at church was wonderful! We got to hear and share testimonies of what Jesus is doing in the lives of His people, worship the Lord together, listen deeply within the heart, the very word of God that gives us hope and life, and share together in a community meal with everyone who comes to our services. Being able to sit together to share in a meal while listening to the Word is...well beyond fantastic! This week's sermon, we are thankful to have our Pastor Scott return and continue in the Gospel of John. The reading for this week was in John 6:1-15 , which so happens to be where we witness the feeding of the 5000 men (counting women and children...maybe 2-3 times that amount), so sharing a meal in a community while listening to the Word...we get that from the Master Himself. Pastor Scott reminds us that as the disciples were wondering back and forth where they could possibly get what they needed to feed that many people, or why they all weren't sent away to go find food...we see the Lord tell His disciples to feed them! Fortunately there was a boy who brought with him 5 small barely loaves and 2 small fish! This may not seem like much, but remember that the Lord will use what we see as insignificant or foolish to confound the wise! The God of ALL CREATION...certainly isn't going to have any problem with feeding whomever He pleases, with just a few items amen? Barely loaves were by no means considered a top shelf of breads, yet even then...this matters not, for even from water (John 2) we see the Lord create the greatest tasting wine! All in all dear friends, as Pastor Scott reminds us, God can and does use us as He chooses and no small amount of talent, strength, money nor skill will make you less useful to the Kingdom of God! This should give us a great deal of hope! He still feeds everyone on earth, every single day...many who don't bother to give thanks to the very Lord and God who created them...and He certainly feeds our very spirit, as He is the bread of life!

There is much more to say on the sermon but that takes away the joy of watching for yourselves! So it is with great hope and joy that we can share this with you, that you might share it with others. Without a doubt, we owe Jesus everything...let's serve Him, in the way He has given us to do, amen?

Wisdom from Above

Where true Wisdom comes from...

Welcome brothers and sisters!

First let's take a moment and give God thanks for all that we have amen? The Lord provides us with what we need, according to His Divine Sovereign Wisdom...that's something to be extremely thankful for wouldn't you agree?

Our posting this week will be a quick one, it has been a very busy week for many of us, not always a bad thing! God is definitely moving in the lives of His people and through out all creation, we ought to be ready for the day of His return by doing the works He has prepared for us in advance to do. The Gospel has got to people the focal point in our lives, for if Jesus is not our center...we are only going to fall.

This week we have Pastor Bob graciously stepping in to continue in his series in the book of James, finishing out the 3rd chapter (James 3:13-18) where we dive deeper into heavenly wisdom, it's purpose in our lives and how we ought to respond to it. The video from Saturday is a wealth of knowledge and we are thankful to be able to share it with you all! Please take some time and watch along with us, spend some time in prayer and let's work together in proclaiming the Gospel to a dying world. We don't know who will be saved by our Gospel sharing, the Lord knows, but we do have the same mandate as all believers...and it's a good one for sure!

So please, watch, share and come see us in person to worship the Lord together each Saturday night at 7pm. We have a meal provided afterward as well! Bearing Witness

Do we truly see Him?

Welcome back brothers and sisters in Christ!

Let's first take a moment to give thanks to the Lord, for He has called us out of the kingdom of darkness into His Kingdom of Light! What a glorious day to remember, celebrate and above all, honor God by doing what He commands us to. Everything the Lord does, is good...so let us Love the Lord and Love our neighbor as ourselves today!

Saturday was a great meeting, we are always honored to share in the Word of God with everyone that comes, and to take it out and share it with others. We pray that is what all of us are doing. Remember, church is where we get equipped by the Word of God, that we may take it to the world to proclaim. Let's not think for a moment that an unbeliever is going to want to come to church to hear the Gospel, it's the Gospel being brought to them...that brings them to church! Pastor Scott graciously continued in the series he is doing in the Gospel of John, our verses for the night were John 5:31-47 . Pastor gave us a microscopic lens to look very closely at what Jesus meant about bearing witness, and doing so in right manner. The Lord fulfilled the entirety of the Law of Moses, by God's standard...not the Pharisee's. So when the Lord spoke of not alone bearing witness, He did so rightly and expounded how it was to be. As always He also gave the view from both sides, God's and man's, when it comes to doing what God commands and showed the difference between what the Pharisee's considered testifying in one's name or coming in one's own name, and God's. We should still doing things in like manner, we testify of the Lord by His Word, through the Holy Spirit by the will of the Father...which when we think about it is a great relief...I know I sure couldn't come up with the right words to truly testify of the Lord...I need His for sure! Moses surely understood this, for what he wrote...he wrote about Jesus! We encourage you to read the Old Testament with this in mind and before you know it, you will see Christ everywhere too!

One thing to remember when giving your testimony...it should always glorify Christ. If any of us are the focus of our testimony...we may surely have missed the mark on that one. At the end of the day, always give glory to the Lord, for without Him...we would all still be in that kingdom of darkness and wouldn't even realize what we were about to face come the time of Judgement. God's wrath on sin is a serious thing, only Jesus could have satisfied the wrath of God while fulfilling all righteousness because He is the spotless Lamb of God.

Let's look to Jesus, as the Israelites looked to the bronze serpent raised in the wilderness...by faith, believing God. Contact us here online or in person for anything that we can help with in your walk of faith and until next we meet....

The Healing of the Paralytic

The Lord of the Sabbath, Pool of Bethesda and Paralytic man

Welcome back beloved family of God!

We are thankful that this very day we are able to give praise, thanksgiving and honor to the Lord our God in Jesus Christ. He is risen, and at the right hand of the Father right now, forever interceding on behalf of His chosen people. Let's always remember to start, live throughout and end our day with our hearts and minds focused on Christ, that we may not walk in the flesh but in the Spirit..amen!

We are please to be back to share the next video with everyone, and our Pastor Scott has taken great care in presenting us the truth...that is the Gospel! He continues in his series in the Gospel of John, and this time around we cover the healing of the paralytic at the pool of bethesda in John 5:1-30 . Just a side note, as a quick point of history, the legend of that pool and the mention of the healing waters being stirred up, are a legend associated with the greco-roman god "Asclepius" and it's encouraging to see that during the interaction between Jesus and the paralytic man, the bible doesn't give any credence to the waters being stirred up by an angel sent by God....rather instead, the focal point is on Jesus and the fact that is He alone is the one who heals, and proves it by doing so. We are also reminded that He is the Lord of the Sabbath, and that God healing on the Sabbath shows how far mankind had taken His law and twisted it that they would accuse the Lord of the Sabbath of breaking it!

There is a wealth of truth that is found in Christ alone, and today as then, we still need Him to show us how much we still do not understand, that we may humble ourselves under His mighty hand. That Unruly Rudder

The heart and tongue can leave one shipwrecked...

Welcome brothers and sisters!

Well what a weekend we had, getting to share with one another the Gospel and worshipping Christ Jesus...makes every day worth it all amen? We hope everyone had a great week, and we are certainly thankful to see everyone, especially that we can all together give thanks to the Lord for giving us Salvation in Christ alone by Faith alone!

We just want to share a quick message this week, as it is one that really needs to be heard and shared...a snippet in a blog just simply cannot do it justice! Our associate Pastor Bob however can, and that he does as he takes us through his continuing series in the book of James, this week discussing how such a small thing as the tongue can lead to such wildfires, so it must be tamed...by planting in the heart...the Gospel. We must truly let our speech be seasoned with salt...

Our verses for the evening were James 3:1-12 , which will be posted below. We live in a world today that very much favors venomous words, and lies beyond all else. So let us join together in preaching the truth, that Jesus Christ came as prophesied, to live the life we could not in perfect obedience to God. He then laid down His life on His own accord (nobody took it from Him), so that thru His death, we might be saved from the penalty of sin rightly due us all. He (Jesus) took our penalty in His own flesh, and died the death we deserve and satisfied the wrath of God, giving to us the Righteousness that is His alone, by faith. He was buried in a grave for 3 days, and as promised, He rose again from the dead! He brings us reconciliation with God and it is a gift too great to not share with others. We need to obey our Lord and share the Gospel with all the nations, for He will return and we all need to be ready when He does. Therefore...repent and believe the Gospel! :)

Taming the Tongue

3 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. 2 For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. 3 If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. 4 Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. 5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things.

How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life,[ a ] and set on fire by hell.[ b ] 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers,[ c ] these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? 12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water.

Believing Without Seeing..

Royal Official's Capernaum Journey

Welcome brothers and sisters!

Let's take a moment to give our Lord praise, and worship the very Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. May our hearts and lips honor His name, in all we do.

It is good to see everyone each week on Saturday nights, and as we journey through the Gospel of John together, we are blessed to have a relationship with God and with each of you, all the time and not just on 1 day of the week! Today we have our video from last Saturday, where we continued in John 4:46-54 . And as you will see as we get underway in the service, Pastor Scott takes us into a close up look at the interaction between the royal official from Capernaum and the Lord Jesus Christ. Sometimes we get so focused on the "big thing", we completely miss what's really in front of us and as we so often look at the healing of the officials son from afar....we might have missed the faith and hope he even had to get him to Jesus. The journey doesn't end with that though, not only did he need to take some big steps to get where he was going, he had to reason within himself that Jesus could actually heal his sick son. Then the moment arrived, there he found himself in front of the Lord and implored Him to come and heal his son, that he would not die. However, the Lord said, go for your son will live...and that's exactly what he (the official) did, he left believing the words of the very Word of God Himself. Fortunately that is not where the story ends all together, for after he returned, he learned his son recovered at the same hour that Jesus told him his son would not die...

So, what would be the next step for him? What about for us as christians? Do we often get caught up in the "hopes for a miracle", when we ought to desire to have a living faith? The bible doesn't give full recourse on what happened with the man afterwards, but in that interaction there is certainly evidence of the call to faith we are commanded to have right brothers and sisters?

It goes without saying that, without faith in Christ, our endeavor's to live beyond the grace are meaningless and disastrous! We must continue to share the Gospel with this fallen and dying world, in the hopes that 1 would repent and be saved from the wrath that is to come. The only way to be reconciled to God, is through Jesus Christ, His Son...and living and fruitful relationship with Him. There is no better news, than that of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. So today we encourage you to share the Gospel message, with believers, with unbelievers and always doing so in love dear friends.

Divine Appointments

The woman at the well...

Welcome brothers and sisters!

Summer has arrived, and with that...light for hours on end. That however pales in comparison to the light that shines when we come face to face with Christ Jesus our Lord, living in Alaska can give us maybe a tiny glimpse though...no? Let's talk for a moment about divine appointments! Our gathering over the weekend continued into the 4th chapter of the Gospel of John , where we got a very unique look into the meeting between the woman at the well and Jesus our Lord. It most certainly wasn't the day the woman was expecting, but one that we can all be sure she never forgot for the rest of her time on earth. That meeting reminds us that, just as the Lord was impressing upon Nicodemus regarding the Holy Spirit in the previous chapter, He comes and goes where He pleases...today, to the well.

We are thankful to have Pastor Scott take us through this chapter and give us good expository teaching on what it means to have this "thirst" quenched, and to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Even if we were to spend all day, every day, for our entire lives studying the scriptures...we wouldn't even begin to scratch the surface of what it fully means to have the Spirit of God within us, changing us for His glory. Glory be to God though, that in Christ we get to spend all of eternity knowing God as He is, and just as we are fully known.

We are thankful to have everyone come each week and we implore you to continue in the word every day, and share it as well. We could very well be used to setup one of those divine appointments...and someone who was once under the judgement of God for sin, could then be under the righteousness of Christ. We also look forward to seeing you each week, be it during the week for studies , or Saturday's at 7pm for worship, fellowship and a meal, or here online where our past sermons can be viewed at anytime. (Also shareable :) )

Bottom line dear friends, today is the day of Salvation, and if we love people the way we are called to, then we must tell them the truth.

For God Loved the World

He gave His most precious gift to us...

Welcome back beloved family of God!

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! - Psalm 118:24 .

We should think on this very thing from the moment our eyes open, before we step out of bed and go about the day right? Today is a great gift that the Lord has given us, for in it we rejoice in His mercy, we rejoice in His blessed hope, we rejoice in His Salvation! Let's take a look today at the latter of these, His Salvation. Brothers and sisters, we have all heard like the rest of the world, about John 3:16, how God loved the world...but unlike the world, we get to obey not only a great gift but a command to continue in His word...so we can see the full context laid out before us. Today we have a wonderful video ready from last Saturday, and our beloved Pastor Scott, takes us through the full context of verses 16 thru 21 in the 3rd chapter, in the Gospel of John. We can have that understanding that, yes, absolutely does God love the whole world (Cosmos), that He sent His only begotten Son...but it doesn't end there, as Pastor Scott takes us deeper, we can see that it's not just a universal call of believing, but that there are some condemned already because they did not believe in the only begotten Son of God. Men loved darkness rather than the light, for coming into the light brings up the fear in mankind that their darkness will be exposed. Many people will proclaim that they "believe in Jesus", but does the tree show fruit of that declaration of faith? Do we truly understand the gravity of who Jesus is, and what that means to our entirety of life?

We will all spend eternity somewhere, and there is only two places that can be...in the presence of God's love and glory forevermore...or in the presence of God's Holy wrath forevermore. Jesus is the truth, the life and the way dear friends, and we must proclaim that message to everyone if we truly love them. Heaven and Hell are a very real place, and God (Our Father) loves us so dearly that He crushed His own Son upon the Cross, that the penalty for Sin and Death that was owed to us, He (Jesus) freely took upon Himself (Jesus), so that by the shedding of His blood, He would clothe us in His righteousness!

There is a very real foundation in Christ, and unless the very lives we have are built upon that bedrock, we will be washed away in the coming storm. Remember, Hell doesn't simply mean "separated from God", it means separated from His loving presence, but those in hell are very much in the presence of God's wrath.

11 And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.” - Revelation 14:11

Let us implore to others together, as ambassadors of Christ, to everyone to repent, and believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ...the very one of the scriptures as promised from the beginning. You Must Be Born Again

Welcome beloved family of God!

It is a wonderful thing to share the Gospel, an even more wonderful thing to be saved when believing the Gospel! Let's take a moment to give thanks to the Lord, for saving each and every one of us that He has, a gift beyond measure and one we certainly don't deserve nor can be earned. God is glorious, amen! He has given us opportunity to meet each week, and to draw close to Him in His word, something we ought not to take for granted...so let us continue in making the most of it as we gather together and worship God every time we meet dear brothers and sisters.

This past Saturday, Pastor Scott has returned and continues in the Gospel of John, a remarkable Gospel for certain. Our study for the night was on the topic of being born again, and no better to best hear it from, than from the Lord Himself amen? Pastor Scott takes us through John 3:1-15 , and we encounter the Lord Jesus as He teaches Nicodemus that a man must be born again to see the Kingdom of God. Of course Nicodemus couldn't understand the gravity of such a thing to be said, for he even remarked how it could even be possible that a grown man could travel the womb once more...but little did he yet know what the Spirit of God does when He regenerates a deal soul. We really encourage you to watch this week's video, as well as follow along in your bibles (read them yourself each day) and sharpen your faith. Do we really understand the meaning of being born again? Do we desire God like we never could before? There is so much freedom found in Christ, in the new birth, for your spirit is alive for the first time...alive to God. So please join us, share the video, share the Gospel, and share your testimonies! The greatest calling we could ever have in life, is to know Christ and share Him with everyone. Let us all glorify the Lord together, for He is truly worth of all honor, glory, power, obedience, power, love and worship!

Faith...Works...James Says What?

Works is a fruit of saving faith!

Welcome back dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

It is good to have something to post this week for everyone, we unfortunately had some issues with the previous week's video footage and were not able to use it. Glory to God that He not only gifts us with saving faith, but has prepared for us in advance, good works to do in His name! Thank everyone for coming out this week, as the weather gets warmer we know that fishing season is upon us, but when you decide on being fishers of men, a much better catch is always near amen?

Well this week we were blessed to have our associate Pastor, Bob Cinnamon, come to preach in his continuing series in the book of James, chapter 2 verses 14-26. James has always been a point of contention not because the text is unclear, but because mankind has a natural fleshly draw towards doing works to earn anything...so its no wonder that same way of thinking is applied to salvation. It was such a point of contention that is brought about the reformation when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church doors. However, James does not say anything different than the Apostle Paul does, that we are surely saved by grace, thru faith. What the Apostle James is saying, is that true saving faith, always produces good works as a fruit of such.

This particular book is one of deep theology study and does us all well to spend time in the Word, learning what it means to have works because of faith, rather than having salvation because of faith + works. We encourage you to watch along this week's video, as Pastor Bob takes us clearly thru the text, and let's scripture interpret scripture. The lesson is very edifying and does much to build us up in our most Holy faith. The sermons always provide much better context than a simple blog post, something to remember with all you watch and read. Don't forget to share the videos as they come out, share it with everyone you can think of and then some!

Cleansing the Temple

Our Father's house is not a marketplace...

Brothers and Sisters,

Welcome again to the next in our sermon series, one that has as much impact today as it did in the time of Christ. So please take some time today, and watch Pastor Scott's continuing sermon in John, as we head into chapter 2, verses 13-22 , we take a long and much needed view of what Christ Jesus did, when He cleansed the Temple.

On that note, it sure is good to see each of you every week! Every testimony that is shared of how Christ has come into your life and cleansed your temple, is amazing and we hope to continue hearing more to the glory of God! It is a great blessing to serve others, and one that is so often seen as weakness in today's society....but not the to Lord, He opposes the proud and gives favor to the humble!

Now about cleansing the temple...another serious matter at that. We often see nowadays in church, many who have opened stores, sell coffee, etc...but is church really the place any of that belongs? Join us today as Pastor preaches on this very subject, and what the Jews of Christ's time had done to the temple and see if it doesn't mirror much of what is still done. Our Lord had every right to be righteously indignant about what He saw.

The Gospel is more important than anything else we can do in life, for if we do not know Christ, our end is eternal damnation, rightfully so for the sins against our Holy God. Take up your Cross...

Welcome beloved family of God!

We are here for another day, by the Grace of God, to share with you the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And goodness gracious, when we look at the world today, do we ever need to leave the world's ways behind, take up our Cross and follow Christ. It brings imagery to mind, that we ought to not just put our ways down, but to drop them like the poison they are, and RUN for Christ...

First we want to give thanks to God our Father, in Christ His Son, that He would crush His only Begotten Son upon the Cross, that we can be forgiven our sins and be restored to Him. A mighty and great thing He has done for us, let us always give thanks in prayer dear family. The urgency of repentance, and believing the Gospel is very clear indeed, and looking at the world today, we can see it caving in upon itself, therefor run to Christ, our shelter, our fortress!

This weeks sermon is very well put, and Pastor Scott humbly and honorably presents the Gospel of Christ as it ought to be, with the importance and urgency that we need to follow Christ...truly follow. As we looked into John 1:43-51 , there is often a few questions we have which are: "What does it mean to truly follow Christ? What does it look like? Am I really following Him? Am I staying in step with the King of Kings, forsaking all else to live as He calls me to? Brothers and sisters, we urge you to watch this weeks sermon and ask yourself some of these questions. Remember too that none of us are alone in our walk of faith, the Lord doesn't call us to go about Christian living in solitude, but together, in fellowship! That there is fantastic news, and even greater still, we have fellowship with the God of all creation in a way that the world does not, for it does not know Him.

Today is the day, and now is the hour to turn away from our ways, and take up our cross, prepare to die to sin that we may live unto Christ! Believe the Gospel, share the Gospel...and if you are wavering, or unsure, never be afraid to ask for help. Don't believe that saying "God only helps those who help themselves", instead know the truth that we are unable to help ourselves, therefor God helps us because we can't help ourselves. Fall on your knees today and call out to God, He hears those that are His own. You can always contact us through our website , or in person and we will do all that the Lord has equipped us to do, to help you know the Lord.

Let us introduce you to Jesus, the Messiah!

Welcome once again beloved family of God!

We want to just take a moment and thank the Lord Jesus Christ, for finding us while we were lost in our sin. Thank God for His disciples, that obeyed in Him going forth into all the world and making disciples, preaching the Gospel, that through the ages many have come to know Christ and His Salvation. Because of the obedience of the first disciples, who later became Apostles, we can share all that has been given to us with you. God is good dear friends, He desires that all would repent of their sin, and turn away from it, and turn to Him for Salvation and forgiveness of sins through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. There is only one way to the Father, and that is through the Son, Christ Jesus, the Lord!

It is good to be here today to share the good news of Salvation, to know that God is willing to forgive us for all the heinous things that we have done in sinning against Him, when we come to Him in Faith, in Christ alone. Before we can get to that point though, we first need to do what the Lord has spoken, we need to do as the disciples did...go and bring others to Jesus. It is one of the things in our Christian walk, that we probably overlook most often, sharing the Gospel with others, bringing them (As Andrew did with Peter) to Jesus. How can someone hear the good news unless someone goes to preach it? Let's not overlook this anymore brothers and sisters, hell is a very real place and we should all desire earnestly and obey the Lord in presenting the Gospel that sinners may not perish! As I write this, I am just as guilty as any other, in simply letting "someone else do it, it's not my calling", except that it truly is the call to all Christians. Fortunately for us, we serve a great and merciful God who is willing to forgive and equip us with everything we need, by His divine power, to live a godly life and preach the Gospel to others.

With all that said, we truly encourage you to watch the sermon from this last Saturday, as Pastor Scott continued in his series in John 1. The verses for the evening were John 1:35-42 , and the focus was on the marks of a true disciple, bringing others to Christ. It was one of the first things they did actually, even though they had yet to fully understand the gravity of it all! Pastor Scott helps us to examine ourselves in the faith, and redirects us right to the Cross, so that we too can get back on the path of bringing others to Christ. Are you ready to come along? Are you ready to meet the living Christ, resurrected from the dead, our Creator, God Himself?! We are here to help in every way the Lord provides for us to do, and we earnestly seek to see you serving the Lord not only here on earth, but in Glory also.

Prepare the Way of the Lord!

John the Baptist

Welcome back beloved family of God!

What a friend, what a savior, what a God we have in Jesus! Every day that we wake up into, is a day His mercies are new, let us take a moment today and all throughout the day to give thanks to the Lord for establishing His plans before the foundation of the world that we may be witnesses to His Glory...amen!

Friends, we are back yet again with another wonderful sermon from last Saturday, where Pastor Scott continues in the new series with John 1. The verses that we studied thru for the evening were John 1:-19-24 , specifically focusing on John the Baptist and his role in preparing the way for the Lord. Pastor Scott delves deep into the parallels of John the Baptist and Elijah, not the same person, but of the same Spirit. Brothers and sisters, this sermon is fantastic as it shines such light on the Lord and the preparation He made from before the foundation of the world, delivered through the prophet Isaiah and then through John the Baptist. It really should make us all the more love the Lord our God at just how much He does for us, and the depths of His Salvation in Christ Jesus.

With that said, this week's entry will be short because we really encourage you to watch as well as visit us in person for worship, fellowship and a meal (Saturdays at 7pm). We truly are thankful that we can share every bit of the Gospel with you all, and you with us. Let us continue to build each other up in our most Holy faith, spurring one another on to good deeds...all the while glorifying the name of the Lord at every step. The most important thing we can do today, is surrender to Jesus Christ, our Lord, and share the Gospel with all. The only way to know God is through is His Son, and He has given us His Spirit and His written Word, let's all together be as the Bereans, and study the scriptures daily. Judgement is coming as promised, but God has provided the way of Salvation from it, and that is in Christ alone, by faith alone, by His Grace alone.

To them He gave the right to become children of God!

Welcome back brothers and sisters, beloved of God!

We are once again back and ready to worship and share the Gospel with you all. This week we will have a short posting, only for the purposes of "You must come and see!"(This week's video of course). Let us first say, we surely do appreciate and are thankful for each of you who come every week and all throughout it as well. With the weather the way it has been, and the roads in the condition they have been, surely it has been a struggle to drive them. We also appreciate everyone who volunteers their time and effort, as well as the goods to cook and bring a dinner for all to share in after service each week. It has been such a joy to share all of this with everyone. The Lord is good, He most certainly blesses us all beyond our deserving. So today, let's be reminded as Psalm 118:24 says, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it".

This week's video is a continuation in the new series Pastor Scott has started, going between the parallels of John and Genesis, this week we pick up after verse 6 in John 1, John 1:7-14 is where we are for this sermon. It is a beautiful piece of the good news, that is the Gospel, that reminds us that Jesus came down from Heaven and took upon flesh like mankind and tabernacled among us. A promise of promises, and God always keeps His promises...Amen! So brothers and sisters, we encourage you to take some time today to watch this week's sermon and we truly hope that the Lord blesses you with understanding of His Word. The only way to know God, is to know His Son, so "Come and see!"

In the Beginning...

Was the Word, and the Word was...

Welcome back beloved family of God!

Another week has come and go, and that just means we are yet closer to the day of the resurrection! May the Lord not tarry, and come again soon... Until He does though, we are called preach the Gospel in season and out, we should be doing what the Lord of the House commands of us while we wait for Him to return..amen!

With that preface, part of what we do is work with all of you, we are together in our serving of the Lord Jesus Christ and it is a great blessing and honor to do so. We very much enjoy sharing testimonies, meals, worship and of course...the Gospel! This week we start into a new series, as we finished up in Philippians we began...well in the beginning! Pastor Scott started a new series that parallels both John 1:1-5 and Genesis 1 together, and it is fantastic. When we take time to look intently upon the Word, we can see our creator Jesus Christ, in the beginning as He made all things. There is so very much to dive into and we greatly encourage that you watch this week's video and really focus upon the Lord. He is glorious!

We also want to take a few moments to thank the Euthus House and the brother Mike, as they spent 6 weeks together building models cars. The ministry was about building relationships together as the course of the 6 weeks went on, and was a very good picture of how we spend time with the Lord and grow our relationship with Him. Please take a look at the picture , for the winner of the model car contest as well as how you might be able to look into a ministry of your own with others. Of course, the Gospel is first and foremost in all that we do, and we want to thank the Lord for the great work He did in the Euthus House and our beloved brother Mike.

God's Gracious Provision

My God will supply all your needs...

Brothers....Sisters....Welcome Back!

What a joy it is to know that you are here, at this moment sharing with us all that the Lord has given us. Being in this ministry has most certainly shown that God is true to His Word, forever faithful...as He has always supplied all of our needs according to His riches in glory! This week around, Pastor Scott faithfully brought to us through to the end of this sermon series in Philippians , our verses for the night were 4:10-23 . The provision of God in Christ for all of us, is so very clear to see. Even the Apostle Paul, who was chained to Caesar's praetorian guard for 2 years, continually encouraged us in his circumstance. And as Pastor pointed out this weekend, those guards were definitely blessed to be chained to Paul, for they got to hear the Gospel so deeply...and often! The Word shows us that Caesar's household sends their greetings...imagine that, the Gospel flourishing right in the middle of Caesar's own house!

We will keep it short this week, so that we can encourage you to watch the video. It is highly encouraged, the Gospel shows us life, always points us right to Jesus. And brothers and sisters....remember, no matter our circumstance, when we keep our eyes upon the Lord, our circumstances will never hinder us. They will rather be something useful to the Lord, to further the Gospel into all areas of our lives and the lives of others, ultimately bringing Him all the Glory!

The Sin of Partiality

Our biases too often make our decisions...

Welcome back once again beloved family of God!

Let's take just a moment and give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. God is faithful to His word, and we should be giving Him praise continually that He judges not by outward appearances. Jesus looks intently at our heart, for He alone knows them. Who better to give our heart to and trust with it, than the very one who created it, washed it cleaned after we turned it to blackened stone, and gave it back as one of flesh? Yes let us give Him immense praise for such a wondrous work!

We are sure glad to share each weekend with you, to worship, pray, sing and study the Word of God together. Sharing the Gospel with another is as important as sharing it with everyone else. This past weekend we were honored to have our associate Pastor Bob come and share with us his continuing series within the book of James. Starting in James 2:1-13 , Pastor gives us a clear look at the sin of partiality...our biases. How often we take and make our decisions about a person, thing, or event based solely on what we see on the outside? The Lord gave us clear direction on this all the way back in 1st Samuel 16:7 , as He instructed Samuel to annoint David as King. However today we all together still struggle with this judging outwardly, and it always gets us right smack into sin. Fortunately for us we have a great and merciful God who forgives us our sins, when we repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is because of the Holy Spirit we can be guided into making far better judgements, by the Word and not by outward appearances. Pastor Bob takes us deep into scripture on this, and we highly encourage you to watch this weeks video and share it with others.

Thinking On These Things...

Truth, Honor, Good and Commendable Things...

Welcome back beloved of God!

As we begin this short month of February, it's a reminder that our lives are but a mist...here for a time, then no more. Those in the Lord however, will live forevermore! Our time here on this earth is still of great importance though, as we are called to deliver a message of life, hope and forgiveness from the greatest love! God is good, and every week He brings us together in a whole manner of ways to build us up in our most holy faith. When we gather for the message of the Gospel, share that message, share a meal in fellowship and testify of His grace and mercy, by the way of His Son....these are the very building blocks of living for Christ. The Spirit of God will always point us to Christ...always! That is an amount of love like no other! Fortunately for us, God is Sovereign and no matter is too trivial or hard a thing for Him to do, praise be.

This past weekend, our beloved Pastor Scott continued into Philippians, guiding us truthfully and honorably into the meaning of what the Lord inspired through the Apostle Paul. The very things we see in Philippians 4:1-9 , is a call to what was just written in the previous chapter, and also as a "come and follow me" call that the Lord gave to His disciples. We are called to meditate upon the Word, when we rise or lay down, when we come and go, in all that we do. To think on these things is no new commandment, but one that has been said since the beginning. We also would do well to remember, that we are never called to Christian life as a "lone wolf", no we are to gather together with the sheep, as the Good Shepherd leads us unto green pastures and still waters. We are here for one another, let us continue in these things dear brothers and sisters. Surrendering your life to Christ is the only way to live life. A closer walk with God, is only a step away.

Forgetting What Lies Behind...

We strain together, towards the hope that is ahead!

Welcome back beloved family!

First we just want to say that as another week has passed, we give thanks to God our Father for adopting us into His family thru the person and work of Christ Jesus, and the power of His blood! Let us take a moment now, wherever you are, and tell God thank you and let Him know that you love Him. He truly is wonderful and the grace He lavishes upon us, is a magnanimous gift we surely do not deserve.

January dear friends...is over! We still have several months to go before the snow, cold and windy days are gone and spring opens up to reveal the life waiting to happen. However, couldn't that be a way to look at our lives? What lies behind are the cold, windy and ice ridden lives we lived in sin, but we are now in the spring of our lives as born again Christians, waiting for the Lord to return and bring about that time where every tear is wiped away, all pain and sorrow is extinguished and death itself....is swallowed up! With that in view, we encourage you to watch this weeks sermon, and Pastor Scott brought a powerful message in Philippians 3:12-21 .

The sermon is very much a reminder that we need to forget the things that are behind us, and look forward to what is to come. This dear friends can only be done in Christ, as He is our very hope, our salvation, our propitiation....He's our all in all! As Pastor Scott said, every one of us likes to think that if we had the past to do over again, we would change a great deal....yet likely we'd end up in the same situation all over again. Our past is done and cannot be changed, but what can be changed is our future...by how we live right now. Some may have heard the old saying that being saved is like being in the middle of the ocean and drowning, and God throws you a life preserver....not so at all. Scripture tells us that we were dead in our trespasses, and brothers and sisters...dead men don't reach. We have a true and living hope, that rescued us from a past of death, so that we may walk in step with the Spirit, who is life Himself! So we encourage you, surrender your lives to Jesus at every turn, and work out your salvation with fear and trembling every day we have on this earth, for what lies ahead.....is beyond marvelous. There is no better gift, than God Himself, and He has done it all for us.

From which tree does our work come?

Welcome back brothers and sisters!

It is a mighty fine day to sit a moment to offer praise and thanksgiving to the Lord isn't it? When we really take a moment to count our blessings, you will find that not one of us can count that high. Just sharing a time of worship with each of you, is a great deal of blessed time that He gives us, then forgiveness of our sins by the work He alone has done, nothing compares!

With that in mind, this last Saturday was one for prayer also, as many brothers and sisters were out sick...including our beloved Pastor Scott! But glory to God, our master healer, He knows every need and fills each one...let us continue to pray for the recovery of our congregation that we may meet together and worship all the more. We are very thankful that our faithful brother and associate Pastor Jaime stepped into the pulpit on Saturday and brought with him a message of fruitful examination, from Luke 6:43-45 , our brother recounts what it looks like that our lives would reflect a good tree versus a bad tree, as spoken by the Lord Himself in the beatitudes. Often we may get caught up into looking at this and catch ourselves falling into the works trap..."did I do good here" or "Was this a good work, and how did I do?". Thankfully, we remember, that only God is good, and those who are in Christ will do the works of Him who called them....amen? We do good works not for righteousness, but because of righteousness and that even of Christ's alone. We were saved for good works! There is so much more in this sermon and we really encourage you to take some time to watch it this week, and if you were out last Saturday it gives you a way to reconnect!

Count it all as loss...to gain it all

To gain everything, we must lose it all...

Welcome back dear brothers and sisters!

What a joyous return to our worship services and meal gatherings...amen! It's such a beautiful thing to see the great work that the Lord Jesus Christ is doing in each other's lives, and not only to witness it....but be apart of it all too! We want to thank everyone for coming, it was a heavily snowy night and we thank the Lord for the travelling mercies he bestowed upon us all last Saturday. Before we get into it, let us all take a moment to give thanks to the Lord for all we have, who He is, and what He has done.

Well beloved, there is no way around saying this thing that may sound strange, but truly to gain everything....we must first count everything as loss. Fortunately we have the Apostle Paul this week reminding us of what that really looks like, as Pastor Scott continued in the Philippian study . Our latest scripture was from 3:1-11 , and covered very well this idea that...we often count our own personal things, achievements, masteries, wisdom as the end all-be all-greatest thing. However, as real wisdom has shown us, the knowledge of man is foolish indeed, but the fear of the Lord....that is the beginning of wisdom! Giving up everything that we counted as great and wonderful, for Christ....that is the true measure of gaining everything. He is the object of our hope, love, faith, worship, praise...and more! We encourage you to watch our video this week and share it as our Pastor faithfully shares the Word, and hope the Lord continues molding each heart that hears according to His will.

Welcome Back, The New Year Has Begun!

Time has never been better to preach the Gospel!

Welcome back beloved!

Here we all stand by the Grace of God, ready to venture into another year upon this earth...and ripe the time is...to preach the Gospel. We want to thank everyone who made the last year such a joy to serve together, and look forward to even more this year. Our first night back after the two week hiatus, the Lord certainly filled the sanctuary...always a joy to see! Thank you to all who were able to make it, and we hope to see everyone next week as well.

We are looking forward to the many great things God is doing within Faith Recovery Fellowship this year, and would love to share every moment of it with you. Let us remember the Psalmist writing in Psalm 118:24 - Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

This past weekend, our beloved Pastor continued in his series in Philippians , our scripture for the night was in chapter 2, verses 19-30. Here we can see Paul show us this great picture of what faithful serving looks like within the church as we do all we can to share each others burdens, lay down our lives in order to take up Christ, and to have that certainty that God is always working.

We hope you can take some time today to come along on the journey of Timothy and Epaphroditus, and what it meant to be a faithful servant of the Lord our God. Every Saturday we meet at 7pm for worship, fellowship and a meal...where there is always a plate, always a heart to care, and always the love of Christ to give. Don't let another minute go by this year without hearing the Gospel and obeying our Father in Heaven's will...it's too costly of a thing to put off. There are many faithful brothers and sisters here, and we would all help you in your walk with Christ...just come and see!

Christmas and Lights in the World

Merry Christmas! Let us WORSHIP the LORD!

Welcome back beloved of God!

It is a precious time of year that we gather, when we celebrate the fact that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ came down to earth to be born in the most humble of beginnings. The true light of heaven came to give light to a very dark world, and in all He did, from being born as one of us (human), living the perfect life we failed to do, willingly laying His life down for us, taking the weight and wrath due our sin upon Himself, being laid in the grave and rising from the grave three days later just as promised, and is now reigning upon His throne forevermore.....that should give cause for great celebration amen!

We want to thank God for all He has done, who He is and why He has done all of this, and we want to share it all with you. Every week, whether it be Saturday evenings, or Tuesday mornings, or any other gathering time for that matter, we are able to come together by the grace and love of God. We also get to see Him move in each of your lives as well, and it really is a blessed thing to be witness to.

This past Saturday (the last one until January 8th), we gathered to celebrate, worship, fellowship and have a meal together...thank you all for coming to spend it with us. We were honored to have a dear brother and his lovely wife (Eddie and Terri) share his time honored Christmas dinner tradition (Filipino Christmas Dinner) as handed down by his mother...and goodness gracious it was absolutely wonderful. The time and effort, love and care that was put into the week long preparation that we all enjoyed in just a couple hours, was a gift to remember. Thank you brother and sister for sharing such a heartfelt meal with all of us!

Pastor Scott continued in his sermon in Philippians , the verses being chapter 2:12-18 , was the perfect focus for the time of year as well..."Lights in the world". The Apostle writes and clearly shows us a beautiful picture of what it looks like to serve the Lord whether we are in front of one another, or there is nobody else in our presence. There is also a very pointed picture of everyday life we take for granted pointed out...we argue and grumble about that which we shouldn't. The Lord provides us with all that we need, and it's humbling to remember that we often grumble about things we ought not right? The world we live in is a rather perverse and crooked place to live and without our eyes focused upon Christ, we fall prey to every trap and pitfall it has to offer. Brothers and sisters, an urgent call is placed upon us all to listen to the Lord, walk in the light, for we live in a world of darkness that is beyond our imagining....but God can and does save the worst sinners of us all. Let us live our lives as a living sacrifice to the Lord our God, amen?

Christ's Humility Pt. 2

Let's focus more on Christ's humility, in part two!

Welcome back brothers and sisters in Christ!

The Gospel is good news friends, such good news that the Lord has given us a great duty to share it with all peoples. We hope you take some time today and watch along with us, and share it with others yourself. As Christmas time approaches, let us take a moment and remember why we celebrate this time, and whom the object of our worship is....amen!

This week, Pastor Scott continues in Philippians, our verses for the night were chapter 2:5-11 . Our Pastor really hones in on the person of Christ Jesus, and how He humbled Himself, even to death upon a Cross. As He emptied Himself, remember that He never stopped being God for a single moment, and went about the Father's will always. It is a fantastic lesson in humility, and puts this beautiful image of the Lord as a humble servant.

Don't forget that we are not meeting on the 25th (Christmas falls on a Saturday), nor on the 1st of the year (also on a Saturday), we encourage you to share the time with family and the Lord right wherever you are.

Christian Unity & Christ's Humility

A high call of living, the strongest bond, and glorifying to our Lord

Welcome back dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

First we want to thank the God in Christ Jesus our Lord for each and every one of you, the bond that we have in Christ with each of you grows daily...that alone is a blessed gift from our Creator. As we sit down to worship, fellowship and share a meal each week, it's not hard to see how Jesus holds us all together, orchestrates every meeting, blesses us in every way...yet still we sit amazed and in awe of everything that He does. This week is no different of course, we sat down this last Saturday to share in the Lord's supper, something He commanded we do in remembrance of Him. He willingly laid down His life, and shed His own blood to provide forgiveness of sins....a price paid so high that nothing in all of creation could even think of buying us back! Let's be unified in spirit, working together in that one goal...the Gospel mission, amen?

Our beloved Pastor Scott this week continued in his series in Philippians (2:1-4), where the focus is on Christian Unity, and the Humility of Christ. The picture we can see so clearly when we peer deeply into the Word, is how Christ humbled himself even unto death on a cross, so that we can be rescued and placed into the body of Christ. Our video this week speaks volumes, and we implore you to take the time to listen to the Word of God (and obey God), as it is more important than anything else in life we could ever do. The link is above that you can read the scripture for yourself, but let's post it here as well, as it is beautiful and is so important.

2 If then there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by thinking the same way, having the same love, sharing the same feelings, focusing on one goal. 3 Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. 4 Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

This scripture above, looking closely, surely you can see the fruit of the Spirit at work....what a beautiful way to glorify Christ, to live like this...let us all encourage one another in this manner dear friends. This is by no means a burdensome command, amen?

Worthy of the Gospel

To live is Christ, to die is gain

Welcome back brothers and sisters!

We first want to thank you God for bringing us all together, the Gospel transcends everything that mankind does to create various groups, or cliques of peoples...a precious gift indeed! The Lord has given us the Gospel, and never has there been more "Good News" than this, that Jesus Christ died for the forgiveness of sins, for those who have faith and believe in Him, and that Jesus Christ rose from the grave as promised, that we too will live forevermore! Today is the day, and now is the acceptable hour to repent and believe, and to share the Gospel that one might be saved.

We encourage you today to take some time to watch last Saturday's worship gathering, Pastor Scott continues in his series in Philippians. The scripture for the evening is Philippians 1:20-30 . Pastor Scott diligently studies the Word to bring a message each week that is so vital to our spiritual living, when you see him, let's let him know how much we appreciate all that he does for us here at FRF and for the Gospel, amen?

The key from the latest sermon that we need to look into, is this...are we living in a manner worthy of the Gospel calling? That is a hard question to ask of ourselves sometimes, but one that is very important. The bible teaches that believers are like letters that others can see, and will end up judging God based upon how we ourselves live. So dear friends, let us encourage one another to the Gospel, building each other up in our most holy faith, and above all seek to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives.

The Apostle, Joy, and The Gospel

God's Plan, in all circumstances, helps us find joy!

Welcome back dear family!

This Saturday was a cooooooold one, so for everyone who was able to make it, we thank you and we thank God for bring you in safely. Sometimes it's hard to find joy in those circumstances, or any circumstance that may bring discomfort right? Tonight we delve into what the Apostle Paul had to say on this particular subject, especially as he shows us how he found Joy in his circumstances, no matter what they were....for they furthered the Gospel of Christ everywhere he went. Take a moment to think about what Paul went through, for Christ our Lord, certainly his experience in the matter warrants our attention, amen?

Our beloved Pastor Scott, takes us right into Philippians 1:12 tonight, and it's worth every moment. Far too easy it for us sinners to get hyperfocused on ourselves, and our distress, that we fail to see the great work God is doing within it! Remember for a moment Joseph being sold by his brothers, they meant it for evil...yet God meant it for Good. So please join us tonight and we hope that this message can help with redirecting the thoughts we all may have about what we go through, right unto how what we go through could be used to spread the Gospel and magnify Christ Jesus!

Growth in Christ

The Fruit of Righteousness, may it abound in you.

Greetings Family in Christ!

What a blessed day and opportunity to once again share our weekly videos with you. We just want to thank the Lord for every person that comes, for every person who is made in His image, and shout praise to the highest heavens for every soul He saves! As we gathered together this week, Pastor Scott continued in Philippians (Our scripture this week is Phil 1:9-11 ), this time touching upon growing in Christ. What does it mean? What does it look like? How can we produce the fruit of Righteousness in our lives? Rather than take our word for it though, we encourage you to search out the scriptures to see if everyone that is said is true, and by what God says. With that being said, we hope you take some time now to do just that, and share this video with others. The more people who hear the truth of the Gospel , the more the will of God is done, and souls shall be saved!

We also want to thank everyone who puts in such hard work with preparing a meal for everyone every Saturday, knowing it is open for all to come and attend, they make sure there is always enough. God surely works wonderfully through our volunteers. The winter season is also here, and goodness it is cold already, as this is being written the temperature has touched the -11 degree F mark. Never forget either, that there is nothing colder, nor hotter as the vast outer darkness that is outside the love of God. Make sure your soul is clothed, and by that, in Christ alone, through faith alone....

Thanksgiving and Prayer

Let's remember our brothers and sisters as we serve the Lord.

Welcome back beloved family of God!

As we begin the first week of November, we remember that we have the Thanksgiving Holiday coming up...our gathering tonight, we learned in the scriptures about a different thanksgiving and prayer. The Apostle Paul in Philippians 1:3-5, gives us a deep look at how we should model the way we give thanksgiving and prayer for our family in Christ as we seek to share the Gospel. Our wonderful Pastor Scott takes us deep into the Word, as we find the character that is shown in Paul, and why he lives in such manner. We also are reminded that, when we serve the Lord, sharing our faith, sharing the Gospel...we are never alone in doing so. We have a multitude of faithful brothers and sisters throughout this world that share in all these things right along with us. So we encourage you tonight to join us and watch this weeks video, remembering to give thanks to the Lord for everything.

We also had the wonderful opportunity to share in the Lord's Supper on Saturday night, something we are to do often, and do so in remembrance of the Lord. We have been given a new covenant in Christ, that He Himself established...a mighty blessing indeed! Our church celebrates with open communion, that all believers are able to join with us and partake. Remember to examine yourself in the faith, so one doesn't end up sinning against the Lord.

Every week as we meet together, and all throughout the week when we meet, one thing is for sure, God surely is to be praised that He would bring us together in His Word, by His Spirit, in His Son. We are truly rich in Christ. We are always available for anyone that would like to know more about the Lord, and we have many services available to help in your walk of faith. The Gospel is something that everyone needs, yet many still don't realize how much. Living The Gospel

What does religion look like in God's eyes?

Welcome back dear brothers and sisters!

As another week comes and goes, it is a moment we cherish. The Lord our God, through Jesus Christ, has brought us all together in Him, by His Spirit and it is always something to treasure. We thank you for taking part with us, in this journey of faith, the faith that has been once for all time, given by the saints.

This posting is just but a short one this week, but a highly encouraging video we have for you. Pastor Bob stepped in this week, as Pastor Scott was feeling ill, let us pray together for his swift recovery in Jesus name. Pastor Bob continues in his previous series in the book of James (James 1:19-27), and he faithfully takes us through the life we ought to live by the gospel. What kind of religion do we have? The Lord gives perfect clarity on what ours looks like, and what His is. Needless to say, what the Lord says, is pure and good. Thankfully we have Pastor Bob to shepherd us in the scriptures, and how that looks like our lives today. He also gives great testimony through personal experience of how this looks, by the work God has done in His life. In Philippians We Begin!

So begins the greeting, one filled with Christ...

Welcome back beloved!

We are back once again, and are we ever thankful for each of you. Each time we gather, we thank God through in Christ Jesus to have brothers and sisters as all of you. The Lord has made a way for each of us, individually and corporately as the body whole, to gather together in worship of Him. As we do this, we remember to count our many blessings, Jesus being foremost, amen! Let us live in continual praise, prayer and to the Lord, as He brings us closer to Himself each day.

Beloved, as we finished last time in the letter to the Ephesians, we ready ourselves this week to begin in the letter to the Philippians. This letter is rich with knowledge, and rich in Christ. Just in Saturday's gathering alone, we spent our time on the first three verses, Phil 1:1-3. The greeting that the Apostle gives, as we peer closely, is rich in love, truth and Christ, always given in grace. Therefore right from the start, we are given firm footing in our Lord and who He is, to take everything step by step, walking by faith in Christ Jesus. Pastor Scott delivered the message this Saturday past, with the very qualities the Apostle did to the Philippians, showing us how even in greetings, all scripture is still relevant to the current age and how we can apply it in our lives. We encourage you to take some time today to watch Pastor Scott faithfully teach us from the Word of God, and how that can look in your life as you come to the knowledge of Him who called us. There is far more to be learned, and shared in worship that one can write in this quick video reminder, so please join us today!

Vine and Branches

He is the Vine and we are the branches....let there be seed and fruit!

Welcome back once again dear friends!

Another week has come and gone, and there has been so much love, truth and grace poured out upon us, and shared with one another! This week we were honored to have Pastor Corby come in as guest pastor to share with us out of John 15. Pastor Corby dove into some meaningful discussion on why Christ is the Vine, and what that means to us Christians being the branches. As he did so, he also shared with us some real life experiences of this in the missionary field, how it looked, how seeds were planted, and over time how the fruit developed. All the while this was done, we are called to remember that our Glorious God and Savior Jesus Christ is with us!

It is such a blessing to be able to share worship, fellowship and meals each week with each of you who come on Saturdays. We are also blessed in sharing the other gatherings we have, whether it be bible study, counseling, Christian leadership courses through Tumi or just meeting together and catching up on what the Lord is doing in our lives. God truly does have such a personal relationship with each one of us, and to see that at work is just amazing. We encourage you to continue in the Word daily, be fervent in prayer, and live each day in that wonderful gift of repentance the Lord has given us. We hope you take some time today to revisit, share and/or watch for the first time, the video of Pastor Corby from last Saturday. Clothe Yourself In Armor

Put on the whole armor of God...

Welcome back beloved!

We are beyond blessed to have a Lord and God that loves us the way He alone does. We want to share that wonderful blessing with all of you, and as Peter once said "Gold and Silver have I none, but that which I do have, freely do I give to you...." The Gospel is greater than any gold or silver, far greater than any precious gem, and it has been given to us in great abundance by the grace and mercy of the Lord our God through His Son Jesus Christ, and we desire to share it with you.

Thank you for coming back week after week, and throughout the week in the various means we have all gathered in, in worship of Christ Jesus. This past Saturday we finished up in the letter to the Ephesians, Pastor Scott took us the the last verses of Chapter 6, verses 10-24. He went step by step, verse by verse explaining the context of what each meant, and how it all worked together as a whole. When we walk, are we clothed? Are we protected? If so, by what are we donned in? We humbly ask that you would take some time today and watch, or revisit even, today's video. We need to work together in the Body of Christ to build one another up, and make sure we aren't trying to live the Christian life all by our lonesome. We also need to make sure that we ourselves are properly attired in the whole armor of God. Are you today dressed in the Helmet of Salvation, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Belt of Truth, The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, the Shield of Faith and the Sword of the Spirit?

These are all things that the Lord has given us, that we may walk in the light and do the will of God while we remain in this evil world. Surely we mustn't take lightly what this world is capable of, and we need to be protected by all means in Spiritual armor. Husbands, Love your Wives.

Wives, respect your Husbands.

Welcome back dear brothers, and sisters!

We so grateful that each of you come back to worship the Lord with us, week after week. We are also so thankful to share in many of the other studies, meetings, and more with you that goes beyond our Saturday gatherings. Each time we remember you all, we thank God for what He is doing, what He has done, and continue to pray for what He is doing yet within our congregation. To serve the Lord, truly does bring peace, joy, love, faithfulness, gentleness, kindness, patience and self control! The bible declares this to be, as we live and walk in the Spirit, and the Lord always keep His Word!

We have been back in Ephesians as of the last couple of weeks, since Pastor Scott has recovered from feeling unwell (Praise God!), and Saturday we continued Ephesians 5, our verses being 21-33. Pastor Scott is faithful and honest in wanting to not only understand what the bible's message was to it's target audience when written, but in how we apply it in our lives today. Take that, coupled with faithfully delivering the Lord's message to His people and we have a Pastor we can trust to preach the bible as it ought to be. This last weekend was a good example at the great work the Lord does in His under-shepherds and His sheep. So often, especially in western culture, we have taken certain meanings and adapted them to our culture rather than us adapting to what the bible says. This is very much shown in the way we treat marriage and show our understanding in how the marital order of things are to be. Pastor Scott shows us in the latest video what it means for Husbands to love their wives, and for wives to respect their husbands. It is certainly not a case of a husband putting his wife under his thumb, but to love her sacrificially, that he would reflect the way Christ loves His church, while also showing what it means for wives to respect their husbands because they love her so deeply. Suffice to say, this passage gives us a good in depth look at how the relationship from church to Jesus ought to be, because of how deeply He loves His bride ( The Church).

We really encourage you to take some time out of your day to revisit last Saturday's message, to watch it for the first time, and to share it for the 20th time (sharing is caring, ha ha). We truly love you brothers and sisters, and we aim to serve you faithfully, as we serve the Lord faithfully. Don't forget that we do offer a great deal of services , which you can see right here on our site , as well as contact us in the same manner. Walking in Love, Light and Wisdom

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children...

Welcome once again dear friends!

It is always good to see each one of you in person, and we are very thankful to God that we can share our worship time with you, a meal with you, and living the life of a child of God in Christ with you. We want to say thank you for coming each week, and look forward to seeing you next week, or you know....on a Tuesday even (hint... Men's Bible Study 8am ). Beyond that though, we do have so many things available to help those in need and we pray we can be of service to the Lord in doing so.

Good news! Pastor Scott is back and in the pulpit! We are so thankful to see the recovery that the Lord has given him, the type of cold/flu going around is pretty serious indeed, we've had a few people in the congregation going through it. The Lord God is good though, He is our healer, amen? On that note, as we gathered to worship, Pastor Scott jumped right back into Ephesians, our text for the night was chapter 5 verses 1-21. This starts out though, with a therefore; what's it there for? An age old question, or even a light hearted jest, but one that deserves our attention in the matter.

What is chapter 5 speaking of, when it comes to therefore? Being imitators of God, both before and after that statement, we are shown what it means to walk in love, light and the wisdom of God. Pastor Scott takes us right into a great sermon that drives home this important truth. Our video this week is ready and full of the Gospel, and we hope you take a few moments today to meditate on what the Lord has spoken in His written word. One thing is certain, knowing what God says good, but obeying Him is better. We truly love our family in Christ, and we aim to present the Gospel as Lord intended, we hope you also are being equipped to go and do the same.

Testing of your Faith

Trials, Temptations and Wisdom to know the difference, are you ready?

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, fellow servants of the Lord, Children of God....welcome back! It's good to know that you are here, at this moment, reading about this topic....it most certainly is important.

In this life that we live, we have what would seem a long and arduous journey, seems to be at least...more often than not. However, we need to keep in mind that in the "cosmic sense of things", it is just but a blip of a moment in the passing of time. How we live in that time however, makes for where we spend our eternal destination. The Apostle Paul also reminded us that compared to knowing Christ, to being with Him forever....all of our burdens are but a light affliction. When you think about it in that sense, in the point of view that the Lord is conveying to us, perfect sense it does make.

This last Saturday, was great! We had fellowship, wonderful worship and of course a meal that was delightfully tasty. We thank God every time we get to share these moments with each of you, and always pray for more. Pastor Bob continued from last week's sermon, in James 1:2-18 , and he laid out these steps we take when we walk in the Spirit, from trials, to temptations and seeking wisdom all in between. The video this week is much worth the watch, and we hope that you take time in your day to watch, revisit and share it with your friends, loved ones, and even enemies. The Word of God always goes out and accomplishes what it was set out to do, never returning void. We also encourage you to visit us in person, doesn't have to just be on Saturday! Faith...It Works!

Is your faith alive? Or is your faith dead?

Welcome back beloved family. Welcome to first time visitors, return visitors and all manners in between! We sure are thankful to share every bit of the Gospel that the Lord God gives to us, amen?

We want to ask everyone to pray for our dear sister Glenda, who had an unfortunate health incident at church and an ambulance had to be called, she was up and talking with the paramedics as they took her to the hospital, but it is always a hard thing to see when a loved one is hurting. Join together with us in praying for a rapid recovery, and the strength to walk in the way of the Lord Jesus Christ for our sister.

This last Saturday, we were honored to have Pastor Bob come and preach out of the book of James, certainly not an easy thing to do by any means. However, when God is truly at work within you, you'll stand amazed at the message that the Lord brings each time, and every single time your depth of understanding is plumbed further and further! A monumental gift indeed....are you ready?

Pastor Bob continued on a previous sermon from where he preached upon the tongue, the mighty little muscle in our mouth that is a fiery hotbed disaster waiting to happen when unbridled. So it was from here that we jumped back into a very powerful message for the night (James 1:1-4;12) , one can only imagine how it turned the heads and lives upon those in the 1st century church! It is here that we are given the view of faith in right manner, but is so often misunderstood. Faith without works....is dead... What did James mean by that? Surely he wasn't advocating for works like the Judaizers did was he? Rest assured he wasn't, Pastor Bob does a great job at breaking down the meaning of faith, and the fact that a faith that is alive, works the works that God has planned out for us in advance. Remember, we were created for good works by God, which is fantastic news, for none of us can do any good work apart from Christ! We don't work for salvation, but because we are saved , we do good works.

Trust this writer when it is said that Pastor Bob does a far greater job at explanation, so it is encouraged greatly to watch last Saturday's video. We also encourage you to visit us in person, we enjoy worship, fellowship and meals with our brothers and sisters, and to do so in the presence of the Lord makes it all the more blessed. Our adversary the devil, likes to isolate believers, but Jesus brought us together, and we shall stay that way amen?

Tangled Strings

Don't get your strings tangled...

Welcome back friends!

We have another video for you coming up, last Saturday was beautiful, we were witness to lives joined, saved, hope outstretched, love lavished and so much more. Everything good such as these very things, the foundation is found only in Christ Jesus. We truly hope that, if this is your first time or 100th time hearing of the Lord, you will come to know Him and the love of God. Surrendering everything to Christ means exactly that, we surrender our lives to Him, and He gives us something far better than silver or gold, or the greatest of gems known to man... He gives forgiveness of sins, the Holy Spirit, Eternal life, truth, love, hope, and the list goes on and on. Surely just one of these is greater than every treasure on earth, or even the world itself.

Last Saturday we were honored that Pastor Corby would come in as a guest Pastor to deliver a sermon about the tangled mess our lives can be, and how we ought not to get our strings to tangled up. Simply by surrendering to Jesus, this is completely within our grasp. The video speaks for itself and we encourage you to watch along with your family, friends and even the cats and dogs of course! We also encourage you to do what the bible teaches, following what 1 John 4:1-3 says, " Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. ". When we listen to the Lord, we will find that we grow ever closer to Him, and fulfill the things not of the flesh but of the spirit. Our pastors right here will be the first to tell you that we all need to be like the bereans, check all things to the Word of God, to make sure it is of God and the strings of our life will be less and less tangled as we mature, amen?

We also were thankful to share in a beautiful moment with a fellow brother and sister in Christ, JD and Amy, their beginning endeavor in marital lifelong bliss as they got engaged on Saturday night! Proverbs 18:22 says, " He who finds a wife finds a good thing
and obtains favor from the LORD . ". This is truly some wisdom to behold, marriage is a picture of Christ and His church, so we exhort brother JD to love his wife as Christ loves the church! Thank you for sharing your moment with us, and we hope to share many more with you over the years to come. May the Lord smile upon your upcoming matrimony and the both of you become one, reflecting the Lord and His bride!

We continue to pray for Pastor Scott as he is still under the weather, we pray for rapid recovery. We all miss his lightning quick wit, deeply loving heart and his care for his flock.

James, Teachers and the Tongue

The rich teaching of James, in Christ

Welcome back brothers and sisters, and welcome new friends!

Just a quick word for this week on this update, we had some folks out sick this week unfortunately, but rest assured already getting better! Last Saturday we had the pleasure and honor to listen to Pastor Bob preach, as he filled in for Pastor Scott, who was out ill. I myself was out sick too, so today I'll let the video speak the volumes of righteous teaching that it does. Pastor Bob always comes with a great sermon set and ready for us, and this time around was no different as he delves into a very important topic of James chapter 3, verses 1 through 12. We are very thankful to have a faithful brother in Pastor Bob, and hope you are able to take some time today to watch the video from last Saturday's gathering.

We are so grateful to the Lord that each week He brings us all together that we may fellowship, worship and sit at His feet to learn of the deep things of God, and to share it with all of you makes it very special for sure. We pray for those who were out for a quick recovery for the bug going around, and give praise the our Lord Jesus Christ for the incredible way He created us to heal from sickness. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, this is the truth indeed! At the Lord's Table...

He willingly gave His body, shed His blood...

Greetings brothers and sisters!

Welcome once again to our weekly news update and review of the last week. As always, firstly we just want to praise the Lord, and thank Him that He would bring us together, establishing a new covenant with us, by His body, and His blood. We want to thank you as well for being so faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ, and sharing in worship of Him with us each week, we love you dearly.

The Lord's table, a humbling table indeed! We have been invited by God Himself to come and sit at His table, to break bread with Him. He has provided everything we need, including what we are clothed in. Please, come and sit at the Lord's table, clothed in His righteousness giving your heart unto Jesus. We had just a taste of this, this last Saturday and we shall do it in remembrance of the Lord each time we do.

Pastor Scott gave us meaning of why and how we have communion with the Lord, and preaching from Luke and 1st Corinthians, our souls were surely fed the bread of life. There is so much to unpack in the communion time, and we really encourage you to take some time to watch this weeks video as Pastor walks us through communion at the Lord's table. Every week, the Lord feeds our soul in every way imaginable, and beyond that, we invite you to come and hear the gospel, whether it's the first time or the 500th time, it is always refreshing, nurturing and a joy to partake of.

Doing What Is Right

Don't give the devil a foothold...

Welcome back brothers and sisters,

Our latest video, our beloved Pastor finishes up in chapter 4 of Ephesians. It has been a very enlightening journey through just this chapter alone, and the good news is, we have so much more we get to learn over the course of our lives. However, for now we finish up in this chapter, closing out on what true righteous indignation looks like, how we are unable to do it, yet Christ is thankfully. It doesn't end there though, as the Lord gives us the way to live, not letting the day end in anger, keep unwholesome speech from your lips, don't steal, build up our brethren with edifying words. We also put away all bitterness, refrain from quarrels, slander, wrath, but instead be kind, compassionate and forgiving, just as God forgave us in Christ. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but when we look closely the Lord is showing us how to shut the devil out, and not grieve God's heart by giving in to temptation and sin. He is showing us and molding us into the image of Christ! We also see all of this in Galatians as well, when Paul writes to the church regarding the fruit of the Spirit and the fruit of the flesh.

Pastor Scott also reminded us the foundational meaning of being sealed with the Holy Spirit of God. Brothers and sisters, when we belong to God, we really belong to God, through and through. That is a great deal of good news, relief, reason to jump for joy and much more, as being sinners, we'd surely lose ourselves if we were ever responsible for our own salvation. Fortunately, the Lord has everything in His hands alone, praise and glory be! We really encourage you to watch the video, as Pastor Scott delves deeper than this posting can go. Surely you will be blessed by the sharing of the Gospel!

We also want to thank everyone, as each week you continue to fill up the seats to standing room to hear the Gospel, share in fellowship and share in the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ, we thank God for each of you and pray for all that come, and those who have yet to come into the fold. Put on Christ, in Truth

Put off the old self, and put on Christ!

Welcome once again brothers and sisters, and welcome first time visitors!

We are so thankful that you have taken some time to share with us, share in worship, fellowship, meals and most of all, share in Christ. Every week, but not just on Saturdays, the Lord brings us together to accomplish His purposes, and there is nothing more beautiful than seeing the will of our Heavenly Father fulfilled in His Son, amen? What's also so wonderful is that we are able to do this with every believer, no matter distance, time, age or even language. The language of Truth is universally spoken by all, and absolute in meaning, found in Christ alone. With that said, we really encourage you to take a moment today to watch last Saturday's gathering.

Pastor Scott really focused in on Ephesians 4:23-25, and the urgent importance we have in putting on Christ. Pastor Scott explained it so well, as he echoed the words of the Apostle Paul, that putting on Christ was likened unto putting on a garment that has been dyed a completely new color...old fabric yet remains, but new character all together. This is what it is like to be a Christian, having the old sinful self still there, but the new creation has come, old is gone. It really is a beautiful mystery, but well explained by our beloved Pastor.

So, with that said, please take a few moments to watch, review, share and come visit us. Don't let today get away from you, without knowing Christ, it's a gamble simply not worth taking friends. Ministry Opportunity!

Monday Meeting at Faith Recovery Fellowship!

For those who were at church last night, you heard that there was a ministry opportunity for prison ministry. Our beloved Pastor Scott has taken the position as the head chaplain at Pt. MacKenzie, which means there is some opportunities open to those who would like to partake in prison ministries for our brothers and sisters over there. There is a meeting Monday night at 6pm, right at Faith Recovery Fellowship for those interested. We hope to see you there, contact us for any questions you may have.

Continued walk in Ephesians 4

He gave some as Apostles, prophets, evangelists....

Welcome back brothers, sisters, and dear friends alike! What a pleasure it is to see you in person, and share time together as we worship the Lord together.

This weeks posting is just a short one, as our video this week has everything needed. Pastor Scott always comes well prepared to share with us what the Lord has placed upon his heart, and his continued teaching in Ephesians shows just how much he really cares for his flock. This week is a continued study in Ephesians 4, the verses for the evening were 11 through 16. We encourage you to take some time to watch the video this week and partake of the Lord's Word with us, and more importantly, join us in person! While these videos are a great blessing to have, they can't substitute for the gathering together in person as the Lord has commanded us.

Every week we meet at 7pm, Saturday nights for worship, fellowship and a meal. The floor is open to testimonies for those who would like to share what Christ is doing in their lives, and we definitely want to hear it too! Old Testament Saints

Saints, Supper and the communion

Welcome back brothers, sisters, neighbors and friends! What a great week we have had, we recently came off of independence day weekend and the reminder of our true freedom in Christ, to this past weekend we share in the Lords supper...communion! It was a blessing to see so many show up to worship, fellowship and praise the Lord our God....Jesus is worthy of all honor, glory, praise, amen? With our congregation ever growing in size, we continually get to see the Lord's marvelous power on display in the saving of His people, sharing together with all of you makes every day a great joy! We thank everyone who is able to come each time, and everyone who has their first visit with us (hopefully first of many).

Well this last Saturday was very humbling, as we came together to remember Jesus Christ, to remember His promises, His work, His Body, His Life, and to remember that He will be returning in the same way He left. Now is the time for us to remember His words, store them in our heart, that we may obey God with joy and praise, amen? Pastor Scott graciously took us through the Lords supper last weekend, and really brought forward why it is we share in such things, the importance of it all and just as his sermon came after communion, the continued work and perseverance in doing the Lords will. The sermon for the evening was a continuation in Ephesians 4, the verses being 7 through 10. Pastor Scott laid out the answer to a question many of us have pondered before, the question of "What happened to those saints who died before Christ came, died and resurrected for the forgiveness of sins?". It's a question that has a solid answer right in the bible, the story of Abraham, Lazarus and the rich man, not just a parable given the names, and context. Pastor Scott lays it out so very well, and we encourage you to share your time with us today and watch this weeks sermon video, it is very edifying.

To simply write that the saints are with the Lord, while true, doesn't even begin the scratch the surface that is the mercy and love of God and all that He planned out before the foundation of the world, so please join us today! Living in Unity

Live in Unity, by the Spirit

Welcome brothers and sisters!

We have quite the change that happened this week, we went through with a change over on our website design and layout, hopefully everyone is able to navigate much better within the site. There is now even a search function right within the blog area too!

We had the great pleasure to ring in independence day weekend, and we just want to say thank you to the Lord our God that we are free from the penalty of sin and death, Christ set us free for freedom's sake. Let us use our freedom to serve the Lord, giving thanks always.

Pastor Scott continues to take us through such a wonderful series in Ephesians, and this last Saturday we began in chapter 4, our verses for the evening were 1 through 6. As Pastor humbly takes us into the meaning of what living in unity means, we can really see that very work being done right here within Faith Recovery Fellowship. Everyone who comes each week, and throughout the week, we get to join together to worship, serve, overcome and obey the Lord. It brings such joy to see how the Spirit is working within the entire body of Christ, we pray that you continue to share all that has been given to others, that they also may partake of Christ Jesus.

Paul's Prayer

Paul prayed...for us!

Welcome, welcome and welcome brothers and sisters! New visitors, we welcome you with open arms and pray that you will stay for the wonderful fellowship we have in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Every single day we have, is a blessing beyond what we know and though it sometimes seems very hard, the Lord gives us strength beyond imagining. Paul prayed for us, that we would be strengthened in Christ, in the inner man, and brothers, sisters...I tell you the truth when I say, the bible is true on this subject.

This past Saturday was phenomenal, so many of you joined us for worship, fellowship, and a fantastic meal! We also welcomed back Pastor Scott from his brief time away from the pulpit, praise God for his return. He picked right back up where we were studying in Ephesians, this week was chapter 3:14-21. This section really speaks to the love Paul had for God, and fellow partakers in Christ. He prayed so fervently for the brethren, and as Pastor Scott takes us through this section, we can really see how much God cares for us, strengthens us, gives us perseverance to the very end, and all of this in Christ, by His Spirit, when we ask. It simply amazes and humbles, when one thinks about how the God of all creation, bends His ear to hear His children. With that said, we really encourage you to take some time to watch last weekend's sermon, and ask of God yourself for the very things He says He gives, that we may do His will with so much joy.

The Heart Reveals, The Outward Conceals

Welcome back brothers, sisters, friends, and new visitors we welcome for the first time! We are certainly thrilled to share in the Gospel with everyone who believes, and to share the Gospel WITH everyone we can. Every week, when you all take time to worship together with us, we thank God each time we remember you. Let us continue to pray that we can meet the needs of our community, as well to be ready for each opportunity to share the Gospel.

What a blessed evening it was, last Saturday Pastor Jaime was kind enough to deliver a very powerful sermon, all about the difference in what we see, versus what God sees. The evenings text was 1 Samuel 16:1-13, presenting about the prophet Samuel going to anoint David as Israel's next King. It was there that we see, or don't see, why we so often miss what is in front of us, but continues to prove why we trust in the Lord our God. God could see in David what his brothers and even on father couldn't, as he was just a lowly shepherd. However as Pastor Jaime will bring about in the video at the bottom of the page here, God uses everything to His Glory, Sovereignly ordains all things, and uses trials, tribulations, occupations, just about anything that we so often miss, to ready His people to go about and do His will. What an amazing God we serve!

We also have a bit of news, both of mourning, yet of joy, a fellow brother, Barney, who did such great work for the Lord within the prison system, went on to be with the Lord. We ask for continued prayer for his family, and to rejoice also knowing that right now he knows God better than each one of us still here. Let us continue to testify of the Lord, sharing the Gospel whenever the opportunity arises, that we may rejoice for every lost soul to be saved.

The Divine Mystery - Ephesians 3

Welcome back beloved brothers and sisters!

It surely is a delight to have such great fellowship each week with each one of you, we look forward to every meeting together for certain. Whenever we see the working of the Gospel in each of your lives, as well as our own, it brings such a wonderful joy in the spirit. Let's continue to praise the Lord our God for His Mercy, Grace and Love. We have a bit of news this past week, it was our beloved Pastor's 71st birthday, we wish him happy birthday indeed! Even though it was his birthday, he instead gave us a gift....a great sermon!

Pastor Scott dove into chapter 3 of Ephesians this time around, our verses are 1-13. And it is definitely one to pay close attention to, we all wait patiently for the Lord to bring in the last of the gentiles....and as Pastor put it last Saturday, "The person i'm sharing the Gospel with right now...what if they are the last one?" That is a sobering thought when we really think about it. We encourage you to take a few minutes of your time today and watch the sermon, and share it of course...afterall, what if you share it with that last person? In the meantime, let's keep our eyes on Christ, and our work set on obeying the will of God, amen?

This week is just a short announcement on the news page, Pastor Scott's sermon is a continuation in what we have been in recently as we journey through Ephesians chapter 2. This week we touch upon verses 15-22, and the continuation of the unity we have in Christ, and what great work He alone has done that we can have such a gift. Unity - Peace..All In Christ

Welcome back dear brothers and sisters, friends! To our new visitors, we warmly welcome you and thank all of you for visiting us today.

Well, Pastor Scott has done it again, faithfully brought the Word of God that is. And you all have done it too, faithfully came and assembled all in His name that is. No matter which way we look at things, one thing is for certain, God sovereignly brings all things together for His purposes, amen?

What an amazing turnout this last Saturday! Thank you to all our veterans and all those who laid down their lives for the freedoms we have in this country. Memorial day is such a day to remember and honor those who have fallen. But even though fallen, have a risen Savior indeed, and turning to Him means we live, even though we may die.

We have fellowship, worship, faithful preaching, we can truly see the work God is doing within the church, and to witness such a thing simply brings about that peace, that we have in Christ, even amongst the turbulent things happening in our times. We can all have that hope that the Lord has given us in Jesus, that he absolutely cares about the condition of our spirit, desiring that all would come to repentance and turn to Him for salvation, not wanting that any person would perish. No matter our past, there is forgiveness in whatever each of us has done, and a future together for certain.

Pastor Scott delivered a great message, continuing in his current series in Ephesians, last Saturday's text being chapter 2 verses 2 - 22. We encourage you to take some time and watch the video, whether it's your first time seeing it, or just wanting to go over what you may have missed even if you came, the benefit gained for our spiritual growth is something we can't chance to pass up. Every week we gather for fellowship, worship and a meal on Saturdays at 7pm, and invite everyone to come, none are turned away. Welcome back brothers and sisters,

Tonight we have just a short write-up, mainly because the video we have this week is filled with such great knowledge that we encourage you to come and watch. Pastor Scott has returned from his anniversary vacation, and to have him back is wonderful. He continues in his series starting in Ephesians 1, tonight touching on verses 15-23.

Live In Unity, love in action.

Welcome back brothers and sisters,

It is a joy to have everyone back reading this today, more than you may realize. The gospel is saving people all the time, now could be one of those times, God is good, amen? We want to thank everyone who came last Saturday, it was packed to the brim, and everyone there was there to hear the Word of God, what a beautiful thing to witness. We were able to worship together, share testimony, see fellow brothers on to the next stage in their life, our Pastor and his wonderful wife celebrating 13 years in wedded bliss, all gifts that God has graciously given...yes it was a fantastic Saturday indeed.

We were honored to have Pastor Bob stand in for Pastor Scott this last weekend, and he had chosen a wonderfully fitting sermon as well. Our text was Ephesians 4:1-6, all of the command to live in unity. When we look at the commands given by the Lord, really take a moment to see how everything He does, He does to show us what love really looks like, what life really looks like, and what fellowship with Him and each other looks like. Even beginning to see this while we still live in a sinful world, really opens our heart and mind to the hope that is coming in His return. Glorious is our Lord isn't He? Our video this last Saturday is here in case you would like to partake again, which we encourage, or to see for the first time. In either case, both will serve you well and certain that you will enjoy it. We pray Christ does a great work in your heart and mind, that you can live in unity too, and He has definitely given us everything we need to taste and see in the here and now, how good it is.

Every Saturday we meet at 7pm for fellowship, worship, and of course a meal. We invite you to come on down and celebrate with us, come to hear the Gospel, come to feed your soul, you will leave satisfied in your spirit as you come to know the living Christ. God's Rich Blessings cont...

God's Rich Blessings continued...

Welcome back brothers, sisters and friends!

Another week has come and gone, but one thing that remains....Christ! He is so awesome, greater than what our imaginations can put together, which is why we need to look upon Him through His Word right? This week we had a wonderful turnout and it continues to grow, what a great work done by our Lord and God. Let's continue to give God praise for the great things He has done and continues to do in our everyday lives.

Pastor Scott continued upon last week's sermon, where he spent time teaching what Paul wrote of in Ephesians chapter 1, particularly in the section of "God's Rich Blessings", and as we learn more and more, there is a depth of understanding that goes far beyond the surface, like discovering a rich vein of gold deep within a rock. It is of great encouragement to know just how much God does to reveal Himself to us, that we may know Him. So we encourage you to watch along with us in this video to continue "mining that rich vein of gold", in Pastor's sermon series. He faithfully preaches, tried and true, and we thank God for our Pastor, and for his flock for certain!

We have a great congrations to give to our brother Dom, he is celebrating as of last Saturday, 1 year clean and sober! A task that seems to impossible from the beginning, but as we learn, all things are possible with God. Congrats dear brother, it is a great encouragement to our spirit to see the strength God has bestowed in you, and reminds all of us to stay the course in struggles and hardships. Everyone is welcome to come and share their testimony with us each week, and invite you to do so. We meet every Saturday at 7pm for fellowship, worship and of course...a meal! God's Rich Blessings

Greetings brothers and sisters,

It's time once again for another video, a great and magnifying look upon Christ, for what He has done for us. It is a continuation in the series Pastor Scott started in Ephesians, and while we aim for more than a couple verses each week, sometimes 1 or 2 is all we need, for the knowledge within is immense! Pastor Scott does very faithfully preach the truth as it was intended for us to hear and obey, and it is a thankful blessing we have to share it with you each week.

Pastor Scott touches upon last week with the first couple verses in Ephesians chapter one, as he heads into this past Saturday's sermon, where we learn just a few of the rich blessings of God found in Christ. Just as Jesus regularly turned the culture of His day upon it's head, the Apostle Paul follows in the same footsteps as he redefines what "Grace" was and meant to the culture of his day. Just a few of these are listed but certainly not an exhaustive list by our brother in Christ, Paul.

We thank everyone for joining with us each week and really look forward to next week and each day in between as we hope to meet the needs of our brethren and greater community. More than a greeting...

Welcome back brothers and sisters!

What a joy to share each week with you, Saturday nights are very often used by this world as a reason to "let loose and party", yet you have chosen your Saturday nights to prepare for the ultimate party....the wedding feast of the Lamb of God! Thank you all for being with us each week.

We have another video of last Saturday, and our gathering together to worship Jesus our King. Pastor Scott has begun in Ephesians, where we will be for sometime coming, so much treasure to be found in Ephesians too! Our passage for last week's sermon was Ephesians 1:1-2, the greeting, but as Pastor Scott shows us, there is so much more in Paul's greetings than we realize. We are sure you will enjoy reliving this sermon if you were here, or experiencing it for the first time. Don't just stay at the surface, scratch the surface and you will find endless treasure beneath in the Word of God.

Each Saturday at 7pm we have the great honor of joining together in worship, fellowship and of course a meal. God has blessed us immensely with all who share with us, and we hope to continue sowing to the spirit that we may reap eternal life together. We always enjoy when anyone comes up to give testimony to the wonderful work Christ has done in their lives, and invite you to do so as well each week. Faithful Workers Everywhere

Brothers and Sisters, welcome back!

We have another great week that has come and gone, and with it, many valuable moments, work and joyous occasions shared with each other. All of which, brought about by the Lord our God, how awesome is He!

This past Saturday, Pastor Scott finished up in the last chapter of Colossians, the text reading was Col 4:7-18, and there was something that very much stood out for us to see. As Paul was writing his final greetings and instructions, we notice that Paul was certainly not a lone wolf, doing everything himself....he had great deal of brothers and sisters that were sharing in the work of God every step of the way. This is something to keep in mind and close to heart as we go thru our days, we are never alone, never outnumbered (when we stand with God), and there is an infinite amount of joy to share in. Pastor Scott really brings this message home and we really hope and encourage you to take some time to watch the message.

On a few side notes we have some joy to share in brother Austin being baptized (Praise the Lord!) and brother Glenn is doing well as he has let go of nicotine (A hard task, but one not impossible with God). We thank these brothers for sharing their good news with us, and we encourage others to come up each week to share what God is doing in their lives too.

Missionary Prayer

Welcome again brothers and sisters!

Each time we share together all that is the Gospel, we share Christ. We are very thankful to have you return each week to worship together, fellowship together, share testimonies and share a meal. We are truly thankful to know each of you, and most certainly look forward to each gathering too!

Last Saturday Pastor Scott continued in his series in Colossians, this time we were in chapter 4 verses 2 through 6. This chapter has to do with what it means to be faithful in prayer, with thanksgiving when it comes to the Gospel. We need to pray to God for doors to be open for us that we can proclaim the Gospel, and make known this wonderful message. All the while we also need to make sure we conduct ourselves in a manner of grace and love. Before each of us were saved, God mercifully sent someone our way to proclaim the Good News, and we now get to do the same....that's incredible!

Pastor Scott does a fantastic job as always and prepares the sermon in a way that we can appreciate, understand, learn and use ourselves in our walk with the Lord. We hope to see you next week for our fellowship, worship and of course a meal! As unto the Lord...

Whatever you do...

Welcome back friends!

Another weekend, another gathering and another fine day to worship the Lord. We also had the great news of Pastor Scott's recovery and back in the pulpit again to bring the Gospel faithfully, praise the Lord! Thank you everyone for your prayers and support, we are certainly blessed to have a church family like you.

Our video this week is a continuation of Colossians 3, jumping back into our series that Pastor Scott was in when he took time off for surgery. Tonight was Col 3:21-4:1, we had a solid service tonight and the message was clear..."Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." - Col 3:23. That sums up what we do perfectly doesn't it? We are called to obey God, and His commands are not burdensome, but freeing and joy filled. So it would certainly make sense that we ought to work heartily unto God shouldn't it? Tonight as we look closely at the commands listed here, you will see just how good they are, and that given what God says we surely would want to listen.

Pastor Scott brings the sermon home and we urge you truly to take time and share in God's Word with us, it's the most important thing you will ever do (Obey God's Word). God's Righteousness through Faith

God Is Faithful!

Greetings once again dear friends,

Another week has come, another Saturday and another wonderful fellowship time with all of you. We sure are thankful for each and every one of you, God has certainly blessed us with a wonderful fellowship. Each week, as we get to hear your testimonies, we have much joy in the Lord to witness what He is doing for each of you, and how He continues still with each of us. Thank you brothers and sisters.

This past Saturday Pastor Jaime really brought home such a powerful sermon on Romans 3:21-26, and the meaning of our sin, and God's mighty saving grace on display through Christ Jesus. That burden of thinking we need "fix it ourselves" when it comes to addressing our sins....is utterly lifted when hear solid preaching such as Pastor Jaime delivered. We really hope you take some time and watch our latest video, which apologies in advance...there are a couple technical issues when the camera stopped recording for a few seconds. Even that though, shouldn't get in the way of witnessing a sermon with great impact upon the soul. That heavy weight we all feel, can't so completely relieved when you put your faith in Christ alone for salvation. It is also by His strength that we can all live a life of repentance unto the Lord, and repent everyone must.

2nd Peter 3:9 says "The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but it patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all come to repentance."

Bare this in mind friends, it is so very important in our eternal salvation. It is through the death, burial and resurrection in the Lord Jesus Christ that faith belongs, any where else leads unto death. By faith alone, in Christ alone, not in our works, but in His only.

Truth Faith brings real joy.

Greetings brothers and sisters,

We have another wonderful video to share with you this week, as Pastor Scott continues to mend from recent surgery (Praise God for wonderful healing), we had to opportunity to be brought a fantastic sermon by Pastor Jaime. We are so glad to be able to share with you such great teaching, right from the bible it comes too. Tonight Pastor Jaime preached out of Romans 5:1-5 (Faith brings joy), and oh boy does it ever.

We also want to remind everyone that we are open for full services, and each Saturday night at 7pm begins worship, fellowship and a meal. Riches in Christ

More than we can ask or imagine..... (Eph 3:14-21)

Greetings Brothers and SIsters,

Well another wonderful week has come, which means we are just that much closer to the Lord's Return right? It's a good thing to remember each day, when we wake up, we know it's another day we get to know God and do His will while there is time to bring the message to the unsaved. It's also a great reminder that we are closer each day to His return, a win-win situation.

This past Saturday Pastor Scott was out still from hip surgery, recovering well though, let us continue to pray as a church or quick healing and return. Our faithful brother Bob stepped in to bring a message on the fullness of the riches of Christ from Ephesians 3:14-21, and it was wonderful. In every we we are encouraged and prayed for...to know the fullness of Christ in every way. Through prayer we also do the very thing Paul was writing to the Ephesian church about, to churches today....can you imagine? And even still, God can do far more than we can ask or imagine, and His storehouse never runs out, He never tires, and we never have to wait in line. God is available to know to everyone, at the same time, all the time! That's great news, that He is so involved in our lives, that He is with us from beginning to end and then beyond into forevermore!

Well Pastor Bob sure delivered a wonderful sermon on this section of Scripture, and it is the focus of this weeks video. We hope you take some time watch and fellowship with us, worship in spirit and truth wherever you are :)

Wondrous Cross

The Cross is within reach...

Welcome back brothers and sisters!

We want to take a moment and just say thank you for joining us last Saturday, and right here and now on our website. Being able to serve our Lord by fulfilling the great commission is a wondrous thing. We have all at some point felt so far gone that nothing was in reach, but in reality the Cross most certainly is....matter of fact, Christ reached out and took hold of each of us! That is a beautiful truth, that God would reach out to save us sinners.

Well we have another video to share with you, and certainly hope you enjoy the great truth that Pastor Scott has continued to bring in our series of Colossians. Pastor touches point on verse 16 this last weekend, and his sermon really lays out what it means very well. We also have an announcement regarding some help that some may be in need of, especially in this cold snap we have been having here locally lately. The salvation army has some warming centers available, so anyone who is in need, doesn't have to spend too much time in the dreadful freeze weather we have been having. We also have a thank you for Adult and Teen challenge for the great help they have been, and the testimonies we have heard from the young men has been very edifying. To see what God has done in the lives of these men is just absolutely wonderful...such is the wondrous cross.

Last Saturday was very beautifully laid out in the way our lives are to be built, built up even. Pastor Scott continues the journey in Colossians, this time we began going thru chapter 2. Chapter 1 really laid out who Christ is, establishing that very corner stone of our faith, then chapter 2 continues in a like direction for us to be built up in. Above all, proclaim Christ!

Brothers and Sisters, greetings and welcome! We sure are glad to have you visit our site, visit in person, watch our videos, and above all, proclaiming Christ in your lives. That more than anything is such an amazing thing to witness, witnessing Christ proclaimed above all things.

This past Saturday, Pastor Scott brought forth a message so heavy with eternal importance that just 1 verse was really delved into. Colossians chapter 1 is where we have been for the last few weeks, and we hope you have begun to see why Paul put great emphasis on who Christ, and why the telling of this news is so very important. So this weeks video, we hope you will take some time to take in some wonderful scripture teaching. First and foremost we want to say thank you for such a wonderful year, the fellowship and growing that has happened here has been so great and we are very thankful to have shared all of this with you, and with the Lord our God. All along the road, there has been suffering, and even so for the sake of Christ, let there be joy indeed!

Pastor Scott this past Saturday delivered a remarkable sermon from Colossians 1:23-29. It is a great reminder of the sufferings the apostle Paul went thru, and how we ought to reflect in a like manner. We also have a treat this week, where we began recording some of the music during our worship. We hope you join in with us while watching, and of course please join us each Saturday at 7pm for worship, fellowship and a meal afterward.

Preeminence of Christ Jesus

Greetings brothers and sisters!

Tis the season isn't it? Not only do we celebrate the giving of gifts each year, but this is the time we celebrate when the greatest gift was given to mankind...Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God. This past Saturday Pastor Scott presented such a well thought, and fantastic message of the Preeminence of Christ.

Our very creator stepped down out of heaven, took up a body like ours, lived a perfect life that we could not, willingly went to the cross, died for our sins, was buried in a tomb, and as promised, rose three days later. This my friends, is a king who loves his people. I pray we can all take a moment to really grasp the depth of the Glory of Christ, that we can better understand how worthy He is of all honor, glory, power, majesty, love, worship....the list goes on. He is awesome in wonder and power!

There is an article that was shared recently, and felt that it should be put up here for others to read. Remember as Christians, one of the things we are commanded by the Lord to watch for is false teachings/teachers. There is a growing wave of what is called the Hebrew Roots Movements or "HRM", a doctrine that calls people to adhere to the mosaic law and more. I'm going to place this article in now, which is a good read and very informative, please give it a read.

The Hebrew Roots movement has been called a group of heretical, non-Christian, and non-Jewish cults. Hebrew Roots has been accused of repeating the heresy of the Judaizers (those in the New Testament who sought to force Gentile converts to Christianity to adhere to Mosaic Torah).

The Growing Dangers of the Hebrew Roots Movement

In recent years, an increasing number of Christians have adopted teachings associated with the Hebrew Roots Movement (HRM). Properly defining this movement is difficult because it has no central hierarchy or leader and no official statement of faith for members to endorse. While this article will explain and critique some of the major teachings connected to this movement, we recognize that some adherents to the HRM may not agree with all of the positions outlined here.

What Is the Hebrew Roots Movement?

Broadly speaking, followers of the HRM believe that all believers in Christ are obligated to follow Jewish laws and practices from the books of Moses. In some groups, extrabiblical rabbinic teachings and traditions are elevated (if not in official doctrinal beliefs then in practice) to the same level as Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

Although they often speak of keeping the “law,” they are usually inconsistent in how this is understood and defined. For example, certain laws are either broken or neglected while a great deal of attention is placed on keeping the Sabbath (Friday sunset through Saturday sunset) and celebrating the feasts mentioned in Leviticus 23. These issues will be discussed in more detail below.

It is difficult to document the movement’s history because of its lack of organizational structure, but the modern HRM has been influenced in some ways by Seventh-Day Adventism and the Worldwide Church of God during the lifetime of its founder, Herbert W. Armstrong. Additionally, the HRM has been influenced by the practices of Messianic Jews, but the similarities between the groups are superficial and should not be conflated. In fact, some Messianic Jewish organizations have denounced the beliefs of the HRM.1

The past few decades have witnessed a growing influence of this movement among conservative Christians. It is not unusual to see some HRM proponents give themselves Hebrew names, identify as Torah observant, write “God” as “G-d,” eat only kosher foods, claim that the New Testament was originally written in Hebrew (or at least several books were), condemn numerous Christian traditions as pagan, and dismiss teachings from Paul’s epistles. Some have gone so far as to challenge orthodox Christian beliefs such as the Trinity and even the deity of Jesus Christ. Fundamentally, the HRM teaches that many modern Christian beliefs and practices were introduced to the church by pagan Greeks. This is why they generally do not like to be identified as Christians. Instead, they believe that they need to recover the first century Hebrew roots of Christianity.

One writer summarized the HRM in the following way:

It is a very modern movement that insists that we must resurrect first-century Judaism (our Jewish Roots) and the milieu and lifestyle of first-century Jews and impose them on both Jewish and non-Jewish believers. This is not just an academic study to better understand Scripture and its setting but is rather a movement of restoration that claims that the church has moved off its Jewish foundation and must return to a more Jewish way of life to be authentic.2

So how should the claims of the HRM be discerned? Is it simply an up-and-coming movement destined to become another Christian denomination, albeit one with a strong emphasis on Jewish culture and practices? Or are some of its teachings dangerous and divisive, worthy of correction and rejection? The remainder of this article will call attention to some of the serious errors promoted by the HRM. Again, keep in mind that the HRM is not monolithic, that is, its followers often disagree on how much of Jewish culture and beliefs should be practiced. So each point in the following critique may not apply to every person in the HRM.

Covenantal Confusion

Since the early years of the church, Christians have wrestled with issues related to Israel and the church. Many of these struggles can be seen throughout the New Testament epistles and they have continued into the twenty-first century. For example, two leading theological systems within Protestantism, covenant theology and dispensationalism, reach very different conclusions in how they understand the natures of Israel and the church. As a non-denominational ministry, Answers in Genesis does not take a position favoring one of these views over the other (please see “Where Do We Draw the Line?” for more details).

Many of the most serious errors of the HRM stem from its understanding of certain biblical covenants. Chief among these understandings is the notion that “the law” was intended to be binding on all people throughout history. Part of the rationale behind this notion stems from certain statements from Jesus.

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (Matthew 5:17)

If you love Me, you will keep my commandments. (John 14:15)

The HRM makes much of the fact that Jesus said he did not come to abolish the Law and that he stressed the importance of keeping commandments. In their view, this means that the law must still be in force today—even on Gentiles, although they were not under the law in Old Testament times (Ephesians 2:11–13).3 Somehow they seem to overlook or interpret the last part of Matthew 5:17 in a much different way than Christians have typically done. Jesus said he came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets.4 By living a sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21), and then dying as the ultimate sacrifice, our Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7), Jesus Christ fulfilled the law (Colossians 2:14). This is why the Apostle Paul confidently wrote that those who have been saved by faith in Jesus Christ are “not under the law” (Romans 6:14, 7:4; Galatians 5:18).

Furthermore, it is highly questionable to assume that Jesus had the Mosaic5 Law in mind when he told the disciples to keep his commandments. Earlier in the same evening, he commanded the disciples to love one another (John 13:34), and he gave them several commands during his ministry that are not spelled out in the Mosaic law. It is far more likely that Christ’s words in John 14:15 referred to these instructions. Before he ascended, Jesus delivered what is popularly called the Great Commission, in which he instructed his disciples to make disciples of all nations, and part of that process was to teach them to obey everything he had commanded them (Matthew 28:18–20). Notice Jesus did not command them to bring their future disciples into the nation of Israel, as God told Moses (Exodus 12:48), but to make disciples of Jesus among the nations.

HRM followers often engage in some trinitarian misdirection here. They rightly claim that God gave the law to Moses and that Jesus is God. Then they conclude that since Jesus is God, his commandments would be the commandments given to Moses. There are multiple problems with this type of argument. First, God gave plenty of commandments in Scripture that do not fall under the Mosaic law. He commanded Noah to build an Ark and to bring food for all the animals that would come to him, and Noah obeyed God’s commands (Genesis 6:22, 7:5). Should we assume that every believer must also follow these commands? If so, we should expect to see many more Arks being built around the world.

The HRM followers I have spoken to about this typically reply that those commands were given to a specific person for a specific time, and they are correct. But if that reason is strong enough to avoid following such commandments, why does it not hold true when it comes to the Mosaic law? After all, the Mosaic law was given by God to a specific group of people at a specific time. The Bible spells out this fact at the initiation of this covenant and again 40 years later when the Israelites prepared to enter the land God promised to them.

Shortly after the Lord delivered the Israelites from Egyptian bondage, they camped at the foot of Mt. Sinai, and Moses went up the mountain to hear from God.

The Lord called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.” (Exodus 19:3–6, emphasis added)

The Bible is abundantly clear that God made this covenant with the people of Israel (the physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), and Moses acted as their representative before the Lord.

Throughout Deuteronomy (the name of the book means “second law”), Moses repeatedly emphasized that God made this covenant with the Israelites at Mt. Sinai (Horeb), and he even states that the covenant was not made with their fathers (Deuteronomy 5:2–3). Following a lengthy restatement of hundreds of commandments in chapters 4–28, we read these words: “These are the words of the covenant that the Lord commanded Moses to make with the people of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant that he had made with them at Horeb” (Deuteronomy 29:1). The entire book is replete with references to these laws being given to the Israelite people for them to obey as they live in the land they were about to possess.

Many HRM proponents respond to such claims by arguing that believers in Jesus are Jewish, even if they have no known Jewish heritage or ethnicity. Therefore, they argue that Christians are under the Mosaic law. Besides the issue of the law being fulfilled, this claim raises two additional problems. First, by inconsistently following the law, HRM followers are guilty of breaking the entire law. James stated, “For whoever keeps the whole law, but fails in one point, has become guilty of all of it” (James 2:10). But HRM adherents do not follow the 613 commands (by traditional count) in the Mosaic law—they focus only a small fraction of those. In fact, they could never keep all of those laws because they do not have access to the Levitical priesthood.

The second problem with the teaching that Gentiles must be placed under the Mosaic law is that the New Testament has much to say on this issue that directly contradicts the claims of the HRM, as will be explained in the remaining sections.

Did the Apostles Believe That Gentiles Should Follow the Mosaic Law?

The book of Acts records how the early Christian message started in Jerusalem and then spread to Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. The first seven chapters focus primarily on the church’s growth in Jerusalem. Beginning in chapter eight, the message spreads beyond the city. The well-known conversion of some Gentiles, Cornelius and those in his house, at Peter’s preaching sparked a crucial debate in the early church. Not too long after that, following Paul’s first missionary journey where countless Gentiles believed the gospel message, the apostles gathered together in Jerusalem to settle a divisive issue in the church that speaks directly to the claims of the HRM.

After Paul and Barnabas declared all that God had done during their journey, particularly the conversion of the Gentiles, some of the “believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees rose up and said, ‘It is necessary to circumcise them and to order them to keep the law of Moses’” (Acts 15:1–5). The apostles and elders debated the matter for a time, and then Peter stood and argued that such burdens mentioned in verse 5 (circumcision and Mosaic law) should not be placed on the Gentile believers. “Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will” (Acts 15:10–11).

I have spoken with someone in the HRM who responded to this by saying that this referred only to the evangelistic message, and that once a Gentile became a believer, then he would be expected to be circumcised and keep the law. However, this is flatly contradicted by what happened next. James addressed the group and said, “Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God, but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood” (Acts 15:19–20).

So why did James think that four restrictions should be placed on Gentiles? Was it because Gentiles needed to obey these laws to be saved? Not at all! He answers that question in the next verse. “For from ancient generations Moses has had in every city those who proclaim him, for he is read every Sabbath in the synagogues” (Acts 15:21). One HRM follower told me that this verse meant that the Gentiles would go to the synagogues in those cities to learn about following the law. But that is not even close to what James said. The reason for the restrictions was so that the Gentile Christians who were not under the Mosaic law would not unnecessarily offend the Jews. Notice, James did not include circumcision or the entirety of the law in his response. In fact, the four “apostolic decrees,” as they have been called, are quite similar to four of the regulations in the Mosaic law placed upon foreigners who wished to remain in the land of Israel. They were to abstain from pagan sacrifices (Leviticus 17:8–9), from blood (17:10–14), things strangled (17:13–14),6 and sexual immorality (18:6–23).

Did the rest of the elders and apostles agree with Peter and James? Absolutely. In fact, they agreed at every point and drafted a letter to be sent out to Gentile believers that included the following words:

The brothers, both the apostles and the elders, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greetings. Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions, it has seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul. . . . For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell. (Acts 15:23–26, 28–29, emphasis added)

So the disciples specifically stated that they did not send people to teach Gentiles that the law must be kept, and then they sent people to deliver a letter that included just four regulations. If ever there was a time in early Christianity to teach that Gentiles should follow the law, this was it. The decision of the “Jerusalem Council” carried the combined weight of the apostles and confirmation of the Holy Spirit. They did not command the Gentile believers to keep the Sabbath, observe the festivals, or to be circumcised.

Do the New Testament Epistles Teach That Gentiles Should Follow the Mosaic Law?

As mentioned earlier, the HRM often ignores relevant passages in the New Testament epistles. In some cases, the text is not technically ignored; rather its meaning is flipped on its head. Downplaying the teaching contained in these letters is unwise, particularly since most of these letters were specifically composed to instruct the various churches or individuals on matters of Christian doctrine and practice. The Gospels and Acts, on the other hand, are more akin to historical writings. That is, their emphasis is on what happened whereas the epistles’ focus is on how one should live.

The Gospel: Jesus Plus Nothing Else

Written close to the same time as the convening of the Jerusalem Council, Paul’s letter to the Galatians was penned primarily to deal with the same type of issues. A group of people known as Judaizers had troubled the churches in Galatia with the idea that believers in Christ must submit to the Mosaic law, with circumcision being highlighted throughout the letter. In fact, it is probably not a stretch to say that the HRM would end today if each of its followers properly understood the main argument of Galatians.

Paul makes some extremely strong statements against such teaching. Following his introductory comments, he twice condemned those, whether man or angel, who would preach any other gospel than what Paul had preached to them (Galatians 1:8–9). Later, he stated, “We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified” (Galatians 2:15–16).

The HRM follower might respond that they do not believe they are justified by the law, but through faith in Christ.7 Instead, many of them view the works of the law as being required of believers for the purpose of obedience and sanctification. Paul bluntly addresses this idea as well:

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? (Galatians 3:1–3)

Paul stated that those who think they can be sanctified by the works of the law are foolish and have been bewitched. If we have been saved by “hearing and faith,” having “begun by the Spirit,” then how should we live? Paul condemns the notion that one should now rely on the works of the law, attempting to be perfected by the flesh. Instead, he provides the answer near the end of his letter. “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law” (Galatians 5:16–18, emphasis added). How much plainer does Paul need to say it? What can we unreservedly say about those who are led by the Spirit? They are “not under the law.”

Instead of being under the law, Paul stated that in Christ, we have liberty and do not need to rely on law-keeping.

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Look: I, Paul say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. (Galatians 5:1–3)

Notice the similarity of verse 3 with James 2:10. If someone believes he must keep the law, then he cannot pick and choose which parts of the law he wants to keep: it’s all or nothing.8 There is much more from Galatians to address this issue, but we need to see what Paul taught about these matters in some of his other letters.

The Gospel Does Not Depend on the Works of the Law

In Colossians 2, Paul explained that the Colossian believers, who were of the uncircumcision (i.e., Gentiles) had been “circumcised with a circumcision made without hands” having been saved “through faith in the powerful working of God” (Colossians 2:11–12). This circumcision made without hands refers to a circumcision of the heart, which comes through the Spirit (Romans 2:25–29).

The previous paragraph laid the framework for what Paul told these Gentile believers next. “Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ” (Colossians 2:16–17). As we have already seen in Acts 15 and Galatians, the early churches often consisted of contingents of both Jews and Gentiles, and they struggled with the dynamic of Gentiles being “brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13). Many of the Gentile believers had been told that they need to believe in Jesus and follow some or all of the Mosaic law. But, as he did in Galatians, Paul rejected such a view and told these Gentiles not to let anyone judge them if they did not follow Jewish customs, such as the dietary laws, festivals, new moons, or Sabbaths.

Amazingly enough, HRM teachers flip the meaning of this verse on its head, claiming that Paul is telling them not to let anyone judge them for now keeping these practices.9 Such an interpretation is exactly the opposite of what Paul stated. The whole thrust of the passage is that a person is saved by faith alone and not by human effort, such as legalism. Paul urges these Gentile converts to understand that they are in danger of losing their reward if they seek to be sanctified in any way outside of faith in Christ, whether it be legalism (verse 16) or other fleshly practices, such as asceticism and mysticism (verses 18–23).

The Law of Liberty and the Weaker Brother

Paul discussed dietary regulations and Sabbaths in Colossians 2, and these two aspects of the Mosaic law show up again in Romans 14.

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. (Romans 14:1–5)

Once again, it is difficult to be much clearer than what Paul wrote here. Believers should not pass judgment on each other over the foods they choose to eat. One person believes he can eat any type of food, but the one who is weak in faith believes he can only eat certain foods. Yet, even though Paul identifies this person as weak, he still urges one side not to pass judgment on the other side. The same is true when it comes to recognizing certain special days. One person highly esteems a given day while another esteems all days the same. Both positions are fine as long as each person is fully convinced in his own mind. These issues are matters of the conscience.

How could Paul, a Jewish believer in the Messiah, tell people that they do not need to observe special days or dietary restrictions? He explains in verse 17 that the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Keeping the Mosaic law does not sanctify a person (nor does it save him) and neither does following any manmade set of rules. We are to walk in the Spirit each and every day, seeking to honor God in every situation.

Paul taught the same thing in 1 Corinthians 8. The person with a weak conscience is one who would not eat certain food, namely that which had been offered to idols. Others understood that the food itself was not defiled by an idol and that God is the Creator of all things, so they had no qualms about eating it. They recognized they were free to eat it because “food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do” (1 Corinthians 8:8). However, Paul did place a stipulation on them—they were not to eat such meat if it would cause their brother to stumble. Living the Christian life is not about what food you eat or which days you might acknowledge as holy. The issues of food and holy days require more space since the HRM focuses so much attention on them.

Special Foods

It can easily be demonstrated from the pages of Scripture that the dietary regulations of the Mosaic law were not binding on all people throughout history. We have already seen that Paul permitted his readers to eat whatever they chose, as long as their decision did not injure the conscience of the weaker brother. Does the Old Testament have any teachings similar to this?

When God created Adam and Eve, he instructed them to eat vegetation (Genesis 1:29). There is no mention of any change in this regulation until Genesis 9:3, which records the Lord telling Noah after the Flood, “Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.” Of particular interest here is that God specifically proclaims that he is changing what man is permitted to eat. At first, man could only eat plants, but after the Flood, God permitted man to eat meat from “every moving thing that lives.”

HRM proponents have argued that since the Flood account distinguishes between clean and unclean animals (Genesis 7:8), then it follows that God was simply telling Noah that he could now eat clean animals; thus it is just like the Levitical restrictions. A problem with this claim is that Genesis 9:3 makes no mention of the distinction between clean and unclean animals, so they are reading such an idea into the text rather than getting it from the text. In fact, the text specifically states twice that man was now permitted to eat “every” moving thing, and it mentions no restrictions. Another problem is that this verse still shows that prior to this moment, man was only permitted to eat vegetation. So the dietary restrictions found in Leviticus were clearly not in operation prior to the time of Moses. And if God changed the dietary restrictions at the time of Noah and the time of Moses, then there is no reason he could not have done so at the time of Jesus (Mark 7:18–19).

This simple fact undermines the central tenet of the HRM—the Mosaic law was not binding on all people throughout history. Of course, this does not mean it was fine to murder someone before God told Moses, “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13). Long before that, he confronted Cain over his evil act of murder (Genesis 4:10–15). He also told Noah that murderers deserve to be put to death, because man was made in God’s image (Genesis 9:6). Just because certain laws or principles can be found across biblical history, it does not follow that all 613 laws of Moses are binding across history.

Special Days

A very common teaching in the HRM is that faithful believers must only celebrate the holidays that were part of the Mosaic Covenant. Those who demand that others participate in these festivals and abstain from any other celebration or face God’s condemnation are teaching contrary to Scripture. Leviticus 23 describes the proper protocol for celebrating the following feasts: Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Weeks (Pentecost), Trumpets, Tabernacles, and Day of Atonement.

Every year around Christmas, Answers in Genesis receives hundreds of messages (via email and Facebook) from people within the HRM who castigate the ministry for talking about Christmas and using it as a time to point people toward the Savior. There is no question that many of our culture’s Christmas traditions have no biblical basis, and HRM followers use this truth to label any and all celebrations of Christmas akin to worshipping pagan gods. The same thing happens every year at Easter time. Many of the claims about these holidays by the HRM are flawed, being based on revisionist history, shoddy scholarship, and the misinterpretation of Scripture. We have written much on these topics, so there is no reason to rehash the issues here (see footnote for links to various relevant articles).10 We will consider a few of the major errors of the HRM on these points.

First, as discussed above, Christians have the freedom to esteem any day higher than any other or to not hold one day in honor above another (Romans 14:5). While this particular verse might have been written to specifically address the issue of the Sabbath, it can still be applied to any holiday, and Paul taught the same type of freedom applied to the festivals (Colossians 2:16). Neither did the apostles at the Jerusalem Council instruct the Gentile believers to celebrate the Levitical feasts.

Second, it is quite hypocritical to accuse Christians of celebrating pagan holidays (because extrabiblical ideas have become associated with the celebrations for some people) when their own celebrations are loaded with extrabiblical ideas. For example, HRM proponents criticize Christians who celebrate Christmas for a variety of reasons. One popular reason is that the Bible never says anything about things like Santa, reindeer, and mistletoe being connected to the birth of Jesus Christ. While it’s true that the Bible does not mention these things, it does not follow that every Christian who celebrates the Lord’s birth in December does so using things like Santa, reindeer, and mistletoe. Furthermore, this criticism is a wee bit like the clover calling the grass green. When some HRM followers celebrate the Passover, they include several items and practices that are not mentioned in Scripture, such as a roasted egg, the hidden piece of matzah bread called the afikomen, a bowl of salt water representing tears of Hebrew slaves and the Red Sea, and an extra seat for Elijah. These “traditions of men” were added over the centuries and are not found in the Bible. So why is it acceptable for traditions to be added to the Passover celebration but not to holidays deemed unacceptable by the HRM?

Third, if it is highly offensive to God to celebrate any holiday outside those mentioned in Leviticus 23, then why do so many HRM adherents often celebrate at least one holiday not found in that chapter and did not arise until more than 12 centuries after Moses? Hanukkah is an eight-day holiday to remember the rededication of the temple following the Maccabean Revolt (c. 167–160 BC). Why would the HRM celebrate such a festival when it is not mentioned in the Mosaic law?

The HRM certainly cannot condemn those who celebrate Hanukkah for a couple of reasons. Their followers highly esteem Jewish practices, and Hanukkah is a very important Jewish celebration. But the greatest argument against the “Leviticus 23 only” position is that Jesus almost certainly celebrated Hanukkah, “the Feast of Dedication” in the “winter” mentioned in John 10:22. If he was not in Jerusalem to celebrate the holiday, then what was he there for? And if it were wrong to celebrate it, why did he not take the opportunity to set people straight during the “Feast of Dedication”? So if Jesus did not violate the law by celebrating a holiday not found in Leviticus 23, then why would it be wrong for Christians to celebrate a holiday not listed in that chapter? It should be mentioned that many HRM followers also celebrate Purim, another Jewish holiday that started long after Moses (Esther 9:26–28).

The point of the above discussion is not to criticize those who wish to learn more about the Hebrew culture, traditions, and practices during biblical times. In fact, learning about these things to some degree is necessary for properly understanding the Bible. Jesus and all of his apostles were Jews. With a few possible exceptions,11 every book of the Bible was written by Hebrews. If we are to properly interpret the Bible, we need to be aware of the historical context of its writings.

There is nothing wrong with a Christian taking part in a Passover seder or celebrating Hanukkah, as long as he realizes that such practices are not required for salvation or sanctification and do not grant any special favor with God. Observing these festivals can help one acquire a better grasp of the Bible’s context. I recently had the privilege of visiting Israel during Hanukkah, and I believe it was quite helpful for me to see firsthand what the celebration is like today and what it means to the Jewish people. But I certainly do not believe it made me any holier than fellow believers who have not had such a wonderful opportunity.

Final Considerations

The reason for this critique of the HRM is that some in the movement go far beyond the desire to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the historical and cultural background of Scripture and have fallen for false doctrine. These are not minor disagreements that can be swept under the rug, but are egregious errors that often have serious ramifications and must be addressed. When HRM proponents condemn Christians for not following the Mosaic law and/or extrabiblical Hebrew traditions, then they have crossed a line repeatedly rejected by the apostles. They need to hear the same rebukes that Paul delivered to the Galatians who had been bewitched by teachings very similar to demands made by some in the HRM.

There are real dangers in taking good intentions (learning more about the Hebrew backdrop of Christianity or "walking as Jesus walked") too far. Some in the HRM have created divisions in the body of Christ by labeling non-HRM believers as pagans or accusing them of engaging in pagan practices. They have set up a Christianity consisting of haves and have-nots (i.e., the haves who keep the law and the have-nots who do not).

Some of the people involved in this movement have slipped into believing and teaching a false gospel by promoting “works salvation” when they argue that believers must keep the Mosaic law to maintain their salvation. If salvation is by God’s grace received through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, as the Bible clearly states (Romans 11:6; Ephesians 2:8–9), then it cannot be based on works of the law, or else it would no longer be by grace. Certainly, Christians should do the good works God has set before them (Ephesians 2:10), but we are not saved by such efforts, nor do those efforts keep us in a state of grace. We can only be saved on the basis of the complete and perfect atoning work of Jesus Christ.

If you have been influenced by the Hebrew Roots Movement, I urge you to carefully read through the book of Galatians. Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you read. Do not rely on my interpretation of its passages mentioned above or on the interpretation of various HRM teachers. Just carefully and prayerfully read through the letter to see what Paul told his readers. Look closely at the other passages discussed in this article. Think about why none of the apostles ever instructed the Gentile believers to follow the Mosaic law when they had perfect opportunities to do so.

Remember that the kingdom of God is not about food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). Recall the simplicity of the gospel, which is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Gentile (Romans 1:16). It is not about the works we might do for God, but what God has already done for us. The gospel message Paul received and delivered is this: “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3–4, (NKJB)

Well we are back once again, with another video of last Saturday's fellowship and it was wonderful. We were blessed with a fantastic testimony from a sister who was kind enough to share with us the great work that Christ has done in her life, and help us to connect to one another in the realization that He has done that for each of us in one way or another. We thank you her for sharing and hope you enjoy it.

Pastor Scott delivered tonight a powerful sermon on our Spiritual growth, and what it should look like in our lives. We had Colossians 1 preached on this past evening and Pastor Scott did a great job, surely the Spirit is alive and well in his sermons. Seasoned with Salt

Greetings brothers and sisters!

Last week was fantastic, and we sure are thankful for everyone who came. We had a full house on Saturday, and it's a sight to behold when God brings His people together isn't it?

Pastor Scott returned this Saturday after a hiatus from his surgery, and what a testimony he had of the work God had done thru every step of his surgery and recovery. We are glad he is back, safe and healing well. Saturday, we once again have video for all who would like to revisit the sermon of Pastor Scott's, or for those who were unable to make it but would like to share nonetheless.

We also have 3 testimonies from our fellow brethren, and we thank them for sharing with us all the great work God has done in their lives. Our sermon is on Colossians 4, in regards to all we do, let our speech be seasoned with salt. What we say and what we do is read more often by those who do not read the bible and know God, so we need to be representing the Lord in right manner. And in all we do, most assuredly stay devoted in prayer and thanksgiving, while asking that opportunities may be given us, to share the gospel.

The Gospel, first and foremost is the greatest news we can hear, let us share together and proclaim it in our speech, thought and actions....our entire way of life! Jesus is a wonderful savior, worthy of all honor and praise, rich in mercy and delights in saving those who are lost. Gathering Restored!

Trials...Why We Have Them

All Things Have A Purpose

Greetings brothers and sisters ,

As promised we have begun back into the realm of regular updates, including recording our meeting time on Saturdays. Pastor Scott has graciously reminded us why we have trials in our lives, better yet, God has given His revelation to James, who wrote it down for us. However, even knowing the very purpose of what a trial is used for in our lives, we often scratch our heads and have this inner desire to ask God why...seems only natural doesn't it? There is a caveat to asking why though, do we ask why in desperation and desire to be free? Or do we ask why in the manner of "what does God want me to learn through this trial and ordeal"?

What about the command to consider it joy when we go through trials and ordeals? Well, Pastor Scott very soundly teaches us what this means, and how it is not only for our good, but to bring Glory to God. Please take some time and watch this weeks video on this very teaching, and contact us for more questions, to any of what we are here and called to do in our humble service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Have Everything?

Do you have everything you need?

Greetings Brethren,

When you think of that question, what comes to mind? Often enough when we are asking if we have everything we need, we may think of a home, vehicle, food, clothing....the list goes on. However, in that list, is salvation, or eternity, or God there? The good news is that, Christ has given us everything we need to live a life of godliness, there is no external work we need to do to obtain it. This intro will be brief, as we have a wonderful sermon from last Saturday that really dives in deep on this topic. Pastor Scott faithfully expounding scripture as always, by the Grace of God, is in this weeks video, ready for your viewing.

We are so thankful for every one of you that not only comes to be with us each week, but stays for fellowship after every sermon. August 8th FRF - What's in a greeting?

Greetings once again brethren!

This past weekend was phenomenal, so often when we gather for fellowship, the first thing we do is...greet each other right? We often take for granted a greeting these days, and forget that much is included in them. This past weekend, Pastor Scott takes us through the beginning of 2nd Peter chapter 1, and right from the start we learn that there is an incredible wealth of meaning inside what we might see as a simple greeting. Take that just a step further, because in the Word of God, a greeting contains so much treasure, a wealth of knowledge. The video below, if you missed our time together gives a good reminder of why we shouldn't just skim over the bible, nor skim in greeting one another, nor fellowship. Treasure abounds in the Word of God, and as He speaks to us through His Word, let us have ears to hear brothers and sisters.

The Lord's Supper

Greetings brothers and sisters,

This past Saturday was a time we in all Christendom cherish, the Lord's Supper. It is a wonderful time when we can all come together and share in the elements, remembering what Christ has done for us. Our Lord has given his body for us, that we can be joined in one body, His. He also shed His own blood for us, to establish an everlasting covenant with us. We are bought and paid for by a price so high, nothing in all creation could hope to buy us back. Praise God for the sacrifice He made.

Pastor Scott faithfully preaches on what the Apostle Paul meant in his instruction to the church in Corinth, and we are still working on our progress in providing video each week. July 25th Fellowship! Something New!

Greetings Brethren,

This weeks news posting is a bit late, but good things take time. We have a wonderful announcement for this week, the last two weeks we tried something new with posting the audio from our fellowship sermons....this week, we are starting the move towards video. We have our youtube channel up and running, and encourage you to visit each week as we began posting more videos, don't forget to subscribe as well.

Before the video is posted, we just want you to know that "Love" is wonderful, love is also a hard thing to do, but very much well worth it. God is Love, and with Him, we can go beyond our normal boundaries and comforts and love the way He commands of us all. Thankfully the Lord has shown us what it means to love, and to do so without hypocrisy; Pastor Scott this past week has faithfully expounded the scriptures to give us not only a deeper look, but to grow closer and walk in love more than we have before.

Trying something new this week!

Good day brothers and sisters!

This week we wanted to try something new, and eventually transition into posting not just audio, but video as well. This way everyone can take in the full experience of testimonies, music and preaching. This doesn't mean there will not be a weekly news posting though, it is a blessed honor to be able to share anything of Jesus our Lord to any who will listen. We also encourage our brethren to contact us on our contact page, and share a testimony, a teaching, and anything that will be edifying to the body of Christ. We would love to publish them all, but will be doing just one a week for now. However, you can always come and fellowship with us and share in person, we would love to meet you. Grace alone, faith alone

Greetings brothers and sisters,

Tonight, we gathered, we worshiped, prayed, praised, we had fellowship. Yet all of this, was ordained by God, not one of us, as Pastor Bob boldly, faithfully and truthfully expounded from the scriptures, was of our own accord. Tonight we covered a section of scripture which has more treasure than any of us can fathom, we were in Ephesians 2 1-10.

Pastor Bob, taught what the scriptures so clearly say, and it should both humble us, and bring us great joy. We are reminded that before God had intervened and would draw us to His Son, Jesus Christ; we were dead in our sins and trespasses. To put it bluntly it's no different than one of us standing over a pile of bones, and watching that pile of bones try deciding to follow Jesus. And as Pastor put it tonight, a phrase we should find great relief in..."But God...."

What did he mean by that phrase? Let's start in verse 1, and brethren this is fantastic news about what God has done!

[1]And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, [2]in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. [3]Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. [4] But God , being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, [5]even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), [6]and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, [7]so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. [8]For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; [9]not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. [10]For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

You see there? But God...! Wow, let us take in for a moment at how great a love God must have for us that He would do this, by his grace, and the gift of faith that He gives us, would do that for those who are dead in their sins and trespasses. What a great and wonderful Savior indeed that we serve, Risen forevermore!

We live in a day and age, where many may tell you, it's your choice and God has nothing to do with it. That my friends is pelagianism rearing it's ugly head. This same teaching also wants all of us to think that none of us are affected by original sin, that is, Adam and Eve's disobedience. Don't believe it brethren, believe God alone, and His Word alone. Left to our own devices, not one sinner wants anything to do with God. Those are are still in their sins, as the scripture says here, and as Jesus said to the Jews in the temple, are children of the devil. This is heartbreaking, to not know God is to not be His own, and is to not know Life Himself.

The good news is that anyone can be saved, anyone God chooses, and we should pray for those who don't know Christ, to be given a new heart, a heart for God. We don't know who is chosen, and who isn't among the ages, but we are called to preach the Gospel, let's do that together with our testimony of what the Lord has done for us. For we were all dead at one point, but now alone, with Christ.

FRF News and a birthday too!

Brothers and Sisters,

This past Friday and Saturday were a wonder to be part of. On Friday, we had the opportunity to celebrate Pastor Scott's birthday, who at this point I think is enjoying his 25th birthday for long time now :) . But it was great to see so many who came and fellowship with him, Pastor Scott is more than just a pastor, he is a beloved friend, a mentor, a husband, a brother, a friend and devoted child of God. Happy birthday dear brother, may many more bless your days and ours.

This evening we had a new edition to the worship team who played beautifully on the keyboards for us, brother Steve. We thank you for the wonderful testimony, and how often we see God move in the most unexpected of places too. You are a living testimony to the Glory of God's grace and love.

Pastor Scott touched on a very important part of what we do as Christians, and how such an invitation to prayer, is vital to the development of our spiritual maturity. Tonight's scripture covered 1st Tim chapter 2.

Paul's ultimate desire that we can see is that the Gospel go forth, it mattered not where he was, or who he was in front of, it mattered that he preached the Gospel wherever he was and to whomever he was in front of. The Gospel, friends, is what saves lives, and how can one hear the Gospel if one does not go and testify to it? Prayer also fosters relationships, you will find how you live and treat others will change if you are actively praying for them, humbling yourself and being broken-hearted over another enough to pray that God will work in their lives. It also fosters our relationship with God. How often do we pray to just ask God for something tangible? Do we pray to ask him to change our hearts? Our desires? How we view God in all His Holiness? May we no longer look to God and treat Him as if He were some Cosmic Genie simply there to grant all the desires of our own hearts! Instead, let us go unto Him who intercedes on our behalf forever, and ask of Him what He desires, and the strength to walk in what He asks of us.

A final thing to note is the times Paul was writing this, he was living under Nero's authority, who was known to harbor incredible vitriol towards Christians, that he would crucify them, then light them as candles to light the road into Rome. Paul urged us, by the Spirit mind you, to pray for those in authority over us, that we might live a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

As always a simple news section cannot due justice to the blessed preaching we hear each Saturday, nor can it substitute the fellowship with Living bread (The Word) and a shared meal. Welcome Back!

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

Our first full fledged gathering this last Saturday, was absolutely wonderful. The Lord has greatly blessed us with His presence, and an abundance of people who came to gather. How great indeed is the Lord our God, how great indeed. We began our evening with our worship team, lead by brother Tom, and as always a great selection of music in which to worship by. Let's not forget though, worship is not merely music, it is through study of His Word, living for Jesus daily, and of course our testimony.

Each one of us has a beautiful testimony, and it is unique to each of us as well. God is so involved in our lives from beginning to end, and He walks us through every step of the road in our life, with each step comes a variety of experiences in our life. Tonight, we were graced to hear the testimony of a young brother who comes from the dream center of alaska. The dream center is a program that aims to help young men and women in discipleship and equipping them to lead a purposeful, successful life. We encourage you to visit their website at http://www.dreamceterak.org. They offer a great deal of tools that many of us, at certain points in our lives, need. And just like that, our testimony of the Grace of God increases. May our proclamation of the mighty works of God in our lives ever increase.

Tonight's sermon covered the area of 1 Tim verse 12 thru 18, and was faithfully presented by Pastor Scott. Tonight we were reminded that everyone, no matter how long they have been saved, needs to stay true to the Word of God. We must faithfully guard His Word in our Hearts, minister it truthfully, and correct those who teach falsely. The Apostle Paul was reminding Timothy of just this. We also see that Paul had turned Hymenaeus and Alexander over to Satan, not for their destruction but that they would be taught not to blaspheme. Paul begin in verse 12 reminding Timothy of his own testimony, regarding how even paul was formerly a blasphemer, persecutor and violent aggressor. Then we see how God had shown Paul mercy, which greatly magnifies the Glory of God so much so. We are reminded of this, because Paul being a pharisee, thought he was doing the Lord's work, yet we see he was a false teacher until his conversion. Let me just say this brothers, stay true in worship to God in His Word, submit to God and you see be greatly protected by His word. Listen to testimony given in the bible, hear testimony from fellow brothers and sisters, it is greatly encouraging, and always remember to give yours, if anyone should ask.

We're back!

My fellow brothers and sisters!

We have terrific news today. After a long and arduous journey these last few months, with the latest updates and mandates from Gov. Dunleavy for phase 3/4 (General) and (Detailed) , not only is Alaska back open, but more importantly...Church! As of today, Friday the 22nd of May 2020, we are open back to normal operations like we were pre-covid19.

This means that we will have full worship services, so our Saturday night fellowship meal has returned. All of our meetings, studies, classes, everything is back the way it was, and the way we were hoping it would be. We want to thank every one of you for your patience in all of this, your love and loyal fellowship with us. We want to thank everyone who made it possible to be together, our Pastors, Elders, and board members. And most of all, let us all join together and giving thanksgiving and praise to the only Lord and God, Jesus Christ. Without the Lord, we would have nothing and be nothing, yet in the Lord, we have all things.

We urge you with love, to come and worship together this Saturday evening, the BBQ Grill has arrived for our first meal, we hope to see you here. Please bring a friend, neighbor, loved one, enemy, any and all to hear the Word of God. Let us also remember to give thanks to the Lord for those who gave their all, as we come upon memorial day. Let's honor what they laid down their life for, by living for Jesus Christ.

May 16th, Saturday Fellowship

Greetings Brethren,

We had a wonderful gathering this past Saturday, and a journey...what a journey it was. We were blessed by getting to hear our own worship pastor Tom's testimony. We were blessed to hear his journey of Christlike living from beginning to end, in music...more specifically his Guitar. As a witness to it myself, I think we who made it on Saturday can all agree that God has given brother Tom not only a tremendously powerful testimony, but a blessed Talent at playing guitar.

Let's get to it shall we? If you were unable to attend, we missed you, that's for sure. We hope you can make it next time, your presence is cherished.

Pastor Scott delivered a powerful sermon tonight, truly blessed by the Lord to preach the way he does. We were reminded tonight that, we all like to call the shots in our lives. We like to make plans, directions and steps in every way. Our problem though, is exactly that...we call the shots. In order to being living for Christ, and following after the one true King, we need to remember that it is God who directs our lives. We are urged to submit to God, and listen to his direction. How can we do that you ask? We must be in the Word beloved. There is a surefire way to hear the voice of God, out loud even....all you have to do is read the Bible out loud.

Our scripture reading tonight covered 1 Tim 1:1-11. We see that Paul is urging Timothy to stay in Ephesus, God had great plans for Ephesus and he used Timothy for them, and since Timothy obeyed, he was blessed greatly to serve in a city known for decadence, opulence, and rampant pagan idolatry. Yet in the hardest of times, even while ill, as we can see when Paul urges Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach, God is faithful to His Word. Everything is about glorifying Jesus, and God gives us greater grace in humility to serve Him. Faith and the Law, well they mix as well as oil and water. The Law is good, it is Holy and it shows us how much we desperately need the grace of God. We cannot be righteous by the Law, it produces only a death sentence. Grace, gives life. We are not free to do whatever we please, but we are free so that we can do whatever God pleases to do within us. That God would even choose us at all, is humbling. Let us surrender, let's follow God's direction together.

May 9th Saturday Night

Greetings Brethren,

What a night we had down here at Faith Recovery Fellowship. We were greatly blessed by a wonderful gathering, where we were all able to meet, greet, worship and learn together. Worship Pastor Tom and the music group lead us with some great musical renditions. That alone was enough to warm the heart, after not meeting for what seemed like so long, was like a nice iced tea on a hot summer day.

Pastor Scott prepared a great sermon for us, as he preached on what it meant to "Live a humble life before God", I'm sure many of us, if not all felt the conviction that comes only by the Holy Spirit's leading. A very important thing stressed these evening, as an inward look at our own lives. We cannot live a double minded or "One foot in with God, One foot in with the world" type of life. This very thing is all too common and all too easy, and we often don't even notice how much we do it. A prime cause in our doing this, as Pastor Scott preached this evening, was pride. Pride is the very enemy of God, and it is the very thing we hold on to in the smallest of things, causing the biggest of problems. Brethren, God hates pride but loves a humble heart. When we walk humbly in this Christian life of ours, we walk with God, and it is at this time we often experience our greatest blessings. Walking humbly means being able to fulfill the Great Commission, which is an amazing gift to us. God's desire is to see His Son lifted up and glorified in our lives, and walking in submission to our Lord, is the first step in a humble heart. There is so much more just this Saturday evening that was given in a wonderful sermon. How we hope to see you next Saturday, until then, submit to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, what a great and glorious King we serve!

Phase II Reopening, May 8th 2020

Greetings Brethren,

The journey isn't over yet, but we are on the rise now. As of this Friday, May the 8th, we will see phase II go live. This will have a wonderful effect for us who gather to worship. As you know, gathering to worship our Lord is who we are, and it just isn't the same without everyone here. Even though we have had a lockdown for sometime now though, we have all been in the presence of God, He never leaves us nor forsakes us. Just as He is the Good Shepherd, He has led us back together for corporate worship in larger gatherings. He alone is Worthy, Amen? Below is an excerpt from the reopening plan , of which we are in phase I until Friday, that gives an outline of what is to come. FRF Saturdays Return!

Great news, Saturday Fellowship returns!

FRF Saturday Night will begin meeting at 7 pm Saturday Evening May 9th, 2020. With the current Mandate in place we will not be able to serve a meal which has been our regular practice. Bottled water will be provided.

This lock down situation is not going to last much longer, however under the most current mandate we are able to meet for fellowship, music and time together in God's Word. Come and worship with us this Saturday evening. Fellowship is a blessed gift from our Lord, and we most assuredly enjoy our time together. Let us take a moment to thank our Lord for this gift, we truly hope to see you here this coming Saturday night.

Update on the Euthus House!

The new FRF Euthus House (reentry house) is ready for occupancy. This is the culmination of several years of prayer and effort to bring reentry housing to the valley with a strong faith based emphasis. Faith Recovery Fellowship is committed to the ministry of helping returning citizens from Alaska institutions get a firm foundation as they assimilate back into society here in the Mats-u Valley. Many of you have been committed to this ministry and we are grateful for your prayerful involvement.

What a fantastic bit of news indeed. As many of you know, we often find that the Lord always brings something good out of nothing. When we are down, God is up. When we are weak, He is strong. When we were homeless, and fatherless, He adopted us as His very own and gave us an eternal home. This has been a great road and we are eager to share all of this with you. We have received some bit of good news as of recent, and we would like to share the response from the Governor's office. This has to do with our ability to meet in small groups, such as bible study, TUMI, and other small meeting opportunities at our FRF Office. Please keep in mind that we still need to coordinate our group meeting times, so we humbly ask that you contact us ahead of time to schedule. Dear Network Family:

I’m following up to my note I sent to you on Saturday, March 28th, concerning the

new COVID-19 Health Mandates that Governor Dunleavy announced on Friday

March 27th.

I emailed the Governor’s office and asked the following question: Under Health

Mandate 12, may our pastors and their staff or volunteers, as long as they

practice social distancing, with no more than 10 gathered, serve their

communities as an "essential business?" The basic question: Are churches

"essential business?"

Here is the unedited answer from Bryan J. Fisher, Incident Commander:

Bill,

If your constituents can comply with Health Mandate 011 and 012, under

"Alaska's Essential Services and Critical Infrastructure" Attachment A, Section

II., b., 6., 20. All other businesses that can maintain Social Distancing

Requirements (defined below) and prohibit congregations of no more than 10

people in the business at a time (including employees), and

III. SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS. a. “Social Distancing Requirements”

includes maintaining at least six-foot social distancing from other

individuals, washing hands with soap and water for at least twenty seconds as

frequently as possible or using hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol,

covering coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands), regularly

cleaning high-touch surfaces, and not shaking hands, they can continue their

Work.

Basically, what this means for our churches, if you want to assemble a small

team of less than 10 persons, a combination of paid staff and volunteers,

practicing the strict standards of social distancing and sanitizing, you may be

in your building together executing the “essential services” of your work.

If your local Mayor or City Manager gives you mandates that are stricter than those

of the Governor, you need to carefully follow the local recommendations and

mandates. If your local official recommendations and mandates are not as

restrictive, you need to follow the Governor’s recommendations and mandates.

Gatherings cancelled/postponed

Greetings brothers and sisters,

Due to current events ongoing with regards to COVID-19 Coronavirus, there has been a state mandate issued in how we gather for the foreseeable future. You can go directly to the mandate by clicking here . In essence, the new state mandate just released is as follows:

"All individuals shall cease participation in public or private gatherings that include non-household members, regardless of the number of people involved. This includes, but is not limited to; weddings, faith gatherings, graduations, and funeral events."

As we fall into this mandate, it is our duty as God has given in Romans 13 to obey the law of the land. As the government in authority over us is using this mandate as a means of public safety and health concerns, we would not be in violation of God's command for us to obey as the government is not using this as a means of persecution of the church.

We truly will miss gathering with each and every one of you each week, until this mandate is removed from effect. Please be safe, be mindful of one another by showing love in every opportunity and above all, trust the Lord our God. God is Sovereign, nothing is out of His control and He loves his Church dearly...let's remind one another of this always. May the Lord bless you and keep you, in every season.

A Word of encouragement

An encouragement from Pastor Scott

In current affairs here in Alaska, in the Nation and worldwide there is an overwhelming concern of the unknown! That concern is dominated by one word “fear”. Fear that is expressed in many different ways: panic, hatred, blame casting, negativity, hording, theft and because of the unknown repercussion’s isolation. Sometimes isolation is necessary because of health concerns, but if we are not careful it results in separation, which is contrary to God’s plan for the body of Christ.

God’s desire for us is unity, and in that unity strength through supporting and encouraging one another through prayer, fellowship and reflecting on the truth of God’s sovereign control over all things. If we loose sight of this foundation truth we are going to fail in our mission as disciples of Jesus Christ.

We need as believers in Christ to first of all find encouragement in God and His Word and secondly encourage each other with the same encouragement that we have received. Sharing encouraging words is life giving to those we come in contact with, those we share life with and those who desperately need an encouraging word.

Let us be sure that are words of encouragement are true and Christ centered, always sharing the love of Christ and the promise of salvation in the midst of a sinful and perverse generation.

March 19th FRF COVID-19 News

Greetings brethren, during these trying times of outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), concern has arisen regarding how we should meet. We want to first remind everyone that God is Sovereign, nothing is outside his control, nor can anyone but the Lord instruct us in regards on how and when we can meet ( Heb 10:25 ). With that said, the bible also instructs us to be prudent in such times as these ( Proverbs 22:3;27:12 ). Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone affected in every way, shape and form. Faith Recovery Fellowship has been blessed with such a wonderful ministry opportunity in the people we are able to fellowship with and cherish the time we have together. We are faced with a sorrowful decision regarding postponing our weekly meetings on Saturday nights, yet given current events we feel it is wise to do so until further notice. We will be available through our website or through our office number (hours limited) and will be helping in any way that we can. God is glorious and even in times of trials, we lack no good thing. As God reminded the Israelites during the 40 years in the desert that they lacked nothing ( Deut 2:7 ), let us be spurred on by His Word and find hope no matter what we go through. Even though we may be separated during this time, we remain closer than ever in spirit with each of you. March 7th 2020 Fellowship News

This Saturday night was a blast! We were blessed with Pastor Bob from Adult/Teen challenge preaching about what it means to have a new life in Christ. Our worship team did an amazing job with music, and as we all sang to the Lord together, a great sense of joy filled each of us. Joy that never ends, and a joy that we forever get to worship God in all His glory, is such a great reminder as we joined together this evening.

Pastor Bob lead us thru Galatians 1, reminding us what it means to hold true to the Gospel as given by God, freed from the bonds of sin, that we may hear and obey what God has spoken with such thanksgiving. Hearing a testimony as we did tonight about our old life versus our new life, was such a wondrous reminder of that Good News the Gospel does declare and sets us so free.

As we ended the evening with a delicious chicken dinner, bonds between brethren grow ever stronger when we share not only meals, but life in Christ together. Please join us next Saturday, the doors are open, and all are welcome! Blessings and see you next week!
